Greens have had problems over the years, cart paths are rough, low lying areas have water issues that need to be resolved.

Growing up at Midland Country Club

I literally grew up on this golf course. Also, having played throughout the country, AZ, FLA, CO, TX, etc., I can truly state that if you happen to be in the area, this is an excellent golf course for the value. The greens are some of the best you will ever play. Although for a longer hitter, this golf course is not necessarily a challenge in terms of distance, when the wind is up, Midland CC is a true test of any game, with the course record being a round of 63, which required approximately 2 years of playing to accomplish by a former head professional. Prior to this setting of the course record, the mark was set by D.A. Wiebring, whose 64 had stood for nearly 20 years. With 4 head golf professionals and several touring pro visits between that time, it gives credence to MCC's difficulty as a test of one's game.

In terms of the amentities offered, Midland is typical for a rural golf club. Full locker room, bar, and restaurant services are offered, although the head professional position has been eliminated for the 2007 season as membership levels and participation do not necessitate a head professional to be present. At the time of this review, golf shop and additional services were not publicized. If you choose to dine, I highly recommend the pork tenderloin, a Henry County specialty!

I would not necessarily become a member, even though the non-resident fees for the season are only $700.00 (over 49 mi. from MCC). However, I would definitely recommend playing the golf course as many times as allowed as the golf course can be a challenge and a great experience for all who play it.
