Play this track from the tips for a challenge. Trouble on almost every hole.

This course is unique in many ways. It is challenging yet enjoyable. It is scenic but not a forest preserve type course, mostly marshes. It just shows why Robert Lohmann is one of the best designers around. Check it out.

II played this course on Sept. 19th. 2007 and paid $24 to walk 18 during the week. There is water on 16 holes, but the course in not particularly long. It's definitely a course you need to play at least once to get an idea of the yardages to water hazards. The first nine holes wanders through a subdivision so there is sometimes a little walk between holes. But I was able to walk the course easily. It was a little frustrating not knowing the layout of the holes, but I will play this course again someday. For $24 this is a good value. The greens were a little beat-up around the holes, but I suppose in the fall they don’t move the holes as often.

If you are under 15 handicapper, all you need is a 2-iron for your tee shots, a 7 iron-PW,SW and putter

If you are thinking about hitting long and straight...forget those thoughts, leave the driver, 3 Wood at home. Course is very unfriendly to erratic tee shots....water and rough is huge factor.

Very Challenging Yet Satisfying Layout

This course is laid out amongst northern Illinois marshes and wetlands with abundant cattails and wildlife. The tees, fairways, and greens are in excellent shape. Three holes require you to shoot over a marshy area from the tee, but the distance is < 200 yards. It's fun to walk the long wooden bridges and watch the catfish, blackbirds, and barn swallows. You should be able to see egrets and kingfish on the course . Many of the holes have water but rarely are both sides of the fairway or green occupied with hazards. This means you must concentrate all the time and be fairly precise in your play. I would not recommend this course for a sprayer. The greens are difficult and test your putting skills. Expect a higher number of three putts in your round. Shooting a low round is not easy but very satisfying when you do. The water and design makes it fun to play and a nice change from the grip-it and rip-it courses. The white tees are sloped at 134 and run about 6,300 yards. Don't play the black tees unless you a low handicap player. And the rates are low for weekday play in the morning. This course is also very walkable. The clubhouse is clean and has reasonably priced sandwiches which can be served with Blue Moon beer. The pro-shop is lightly stocked with only a few basic Nike items. Have fun and enjoy your round.
