I was surprised with the quality of the Prairies when I first played it:
The good:
VERY friendly staff. One of the managers told us we could play all we could play one Friday afternoon in the middle of July and that he would buy us a pitcher of beer once we were done (probably because it was 98 outside with 100% humidity). I feel the price to be fair. The course is usually in good condition and, as another poster mentioned, the white sand bunkers and new fountain really look good.
The bad:
Kind of boring course. It’s just straight and flat. It is kind of like Grand Marias but nicer quality.
It’s a so-so course.
I give it a: 2.7/5

The course is in this best condition that I have ever seen it. They have made a lot of improvements. The fairways are excellent and the greens are true and fair.

The Prairies is one of the best priced courses in the metro area. Greens are as good as any in the area and I can tell they are putting money back into the course. The water and fountain at hole nine and the new white sand bunkers are a great improvement.

this is not a well designed course. the designer did a much better job at the stonebridge course. the course is flat, dull, located in a floodplain, not many trees. one par 5 zig zags 3 times. below average maintenance.

Price is right

This public course is 5 minutes from downtown St. Louis. One of the cheapest courses in Metro area that you can actually get a decent tee time the day of your call. Maintenance is touch and go, though. Recently added a small driving range. Very relaxed dress code (t-shirts and jeans are commonplace).

I usually play this course 10 times a summer. Keep going back. Very good course for the buck.

What a hidden gem!

This course is great! I was shocked when I pulled in and saw a course as beautiful as the Prairies. It's very well maintained and the value is great. I had a great time when I played and will definetely be back. Highly recommended!
