After reading the last review here I was skeptical about trying this course out. However as a newbie to the game of golf I wanted to visit all the local clubs and check out their membership options.

After visiting 8 other area courses I gave CC of Gwinnett a call and was amazed to have them invite me out right away for a free round on the house. (none of the other courses even offered me a chance to ride the course before trying to preasure me into a membership program)

However like I said I had very low expectations for this course based on the last review...and boy was I wrong. Now under a new management team this course was amazing, The greens were better than 3 courses I checked out that cost 3 times more in monthly dues.

So back to the story, I go out, the gm gives me a membership package, tells me to go play a round and he would give me a call the next day to see what I thought. I was sold by the second hole. Add in all the other courses you get access to for cart fee only through club corp and I cant see why anyone would think about joining any other local venue.

Now that I am a member I will write another review in a few weeks after checking out everything else this club has to offer.

It's quite simple...stay away from this course. Played there at the beginning of April. The greens are all torn up. It's like putting on the moon. There is bare ground everywhere. I don't think this course was cared for at all during the fall and winter. Oh, and two burgers set me back $18!! Plus, they were out of buns, so they were served on bread. I guess running up to the corner Krogers was too difficult on this beautiful weekend day. Rental clubs were a whopping $25, but the 3 iron was missing.
Do yourself a favor and play Riverpines instead. We played there the following day and had a very different experience. No, I have no personal interest in either. I was simply on vacation with my family.

Fun Course

Well, it is no loonger Trophy Club but Gwinnett Country Club and what is shown here as the front nine is now the back nine, but this is still my favorite place to play in the Lilburn/Snellville area. Greens can be challenging, but fair. You get a good variety of holes: some with tight fairways, some more wide open. Maintenance is not a problem here and the staff is friendly. They also have the best grill room hot dogs in the whole metro area!

Get there early and take advantage of a good warm-up area. The driving range is nice and they have a chipping/pitching area along with practice bunkers kind of hidden on the far left of the driving range. I played there about 8 times before I discovered that.

But as others have said, this is a fun course for everyone.

Great Family Course

Delectable conditions. Delightful greens. Rolling hills. Though the distance seems short, several holes require thoughtful tee shots to stay short of trouble. 9 handicap and under will be tested from the Gold tees. Excellent layout for average female and junior golfer. Superb female golfers can just go to white tees.
