I frequent this course almost weekly, typically on a Wed or Thurs and usually dont have a problem with pace of play. Course is in pretty good shape and I've found the greens to be better than other courses in the area.

Spent a beautiful autumnal Saturday playing here with my husband and another couple. The course was in great shape and the staff was stellar. We're quick, competitive players and appreciated the way the marshal kept the pace up with encouragement as opposed to admonishment. After all we need to acquire.. and keep players, beginners, families etc. but the trick is to do it without alienating more experienced, core players, I think Hunter Memorial does that well. Of course, that may not be the opinion of the self-aggrandizing, golf curmudgeons who can't stomach the site of a woman, junior or senior on the golf course , but who cares about them, they're a dying breed anyway. .Here in CT golf (and everything else) IS more expensive than in other parts of the country, but Hunter Memorial seems to be striving to keep prices affordable, and they also offer a wide variety of specials The rolling hill and stone wall provide a pastoral backdrop ... especially in autumn.

Unplayable on the weekends with all the local hackers. The play is just so slow even when the course is not busy. No ranger. Avoid at all costs, you aren't missing anything. Layout is meh, greens are slow. Every couple years I forget how slow the play is and go back because I live right around the corner. Perfect course for beginners, elderly, and hacks.

This is a great course to play midweek, early. Price is right and the scenery fantastic. However, We played Sat. Sept. 5th at 8:30am and didn't finish until almost 2:00pm. The back was reminisant of the Bataan Death March, I was ready to fall on my sword.

We had no trouble with the starter in July 2009. We went off the tenth with a local senior as our guide and the course absolutely suited my eye. I had a superb round, well under my handicap. The front nine was played without our guide and we got into a little trouble. This was a good little course and was well worth the trouble of driving on the rolling car park that is the I91. The practice greens allowed chipping, so that was a great start. The course was relatively quiet so no-one chased us or held us back. This is worth a trip and is not too expensive, as far as the state of CT. is concerned, but CT.on the whole needs to lower its golf prices anyway.

Scenery wise this course is beautiful. But that is where this coures' positives begin and end. To be a municipal course it was very crowded, the time keeper was constantly telling people to hurry up, even though there was no one behind us. Also, as a new golfer the course was veryt frustrating because EVERY OTHER good course I have played either has gps or some type of yardage book telling you where things are. this course does not. This is a course I will NEVER play again.

I had played at this course a few years back in a tournament. This last venture was one I will make sure never happens again. Not only were the fairways hard and dry, but the time keeper was an a&^%&$&! Who ever heard of a turn time? I never did, and if the hacks in front of us(2) didn't hold us up, we would have not been 3 mins late? So he put a threesome in front of us and it took 6hours to play 18 holes!!!
