Blank is named for an old time Des Moines benefactor. It is amedium length course with large greens and generous fairways. It is in good condition, has GPS on the carts and is a good value for sure. It started as a nine hold course, and was redesigned into 18 in the early 80's. It has a good variety of holes, offers a respectable challenge, but the maintenance could use some fine tuning. All in all a good test of golf for most players
I really like the GPS in the carts but I have noticed this year some of the amenities of the system haven't been working (or at least when I was out there) like the on board scorecard and summoning the beverage cart. There is a really good mix of water holes and holes that contain bunkers. I really dread hole #7 which is the long par 5 on the front 9. It seems to play longer than what it is. Also, the pond on the 9th seems to draw balls toward it. Still, a great course though for a municipal course.
would be a nicer course if staff where friendly to people.? We should not have to walk on tip toes to get along with them!!! Very rude. not just my experience, but others whom I've spoken to!! something needs done!!!!
