Charlotte Golf Links, Charlotte NC--avoid at all cost! Just back from 1st round of the year, heck first time touching a club since last Nov. The golf was as well as could have been expected (shot 80) but if you find yourself in the charlotte area looking for a place to play, DON'T be sucked in by this place being a Tom Doak design. I don't think I've EVER received such poor service at any golf course, no matter how private or how much of a goat ranch. It started with my playing partner, who was coming in from another city and meeting me at the course, paying for our rounds not knowing I had already paid on-line. When we presented my paid receipt the counter person first tried to get us to agree to come back to play again some other time. We explained this was probably a one shot deal. He finally grudgingly gave the refund after announcing "I guess this time, we don't normally give money back". It continued with us waiting on every swing for the first 5 holes (no big deal, 1st nice day in months, the place was packed) and having a ranger come up and begin by saying "What's wrong that you guys are so far behind?" I told him we had in fact been waitng and the group ahead had just cleared. His reply was "Christ, they"re on the next tee." I pointed out they had just left the green and according to the cart's GPS it was only 242 yds to the front of the green, well within my range. His response? To start to berate us that we weren't paying attention, we were too busy talking to the group behind us..also waiting, by the way! Later on in the round, with ourselves and the threesome behind us once again waiting on the same tee, we were again approached and this time accused of playing a fivesome. At first the ranger refused to believe the 3-some that we weren't, my partner and I showed him our receipt showing we were two. No apology, a dirty look and he sped off.

Credit where's it due, the lady at the grill was very pleasant.

Bottom line is there are many fine courses in the Charlotte area that are glad to have you play their course, I strongly advise all to spend your money where its appreciated which it obviously isn't at Charlotte Golf Links.

This place is OK if you don't pay anymore than $35 to play. It is somewhat of a unique design but is not pretty. I don't think it is supposed to be either. Even though they are supposed to replace the greens they are in decent shape. Firm and fast is fine but a lot of the greens are table tops and a few even slope front to back which makes them difficult to hold or roll a shot up, links style. If they let the non-fairway areas grow wild it could be a real challenge but next to crazy difficult for the average golfer

The pace of play was fine (a weekday, twosome, 3.5 hours) and I'm not really in to amenities so I can't comment there. This is not a "regular" place to play but if you can get on for $35 or less it is kind of a change of pace from the normal course.

Staff is awful,on cell or having a cigarette. Always seemed inconvenienced by your presence. Most unfriendly golf course I have ever been too. Zero customer service.
Carts are raggedy and rarely have enough electricity to get through nine holes. Locker room is dirty and seems like it is barely cleaned.
Greens are cement even after torrential rains. Always needing mowing.
I played 8 weeks here in a league and I will never go back to this dump again.

Stay Away from This Course!!!! My wife and I went to hit some balls on their 'lighted range' and at first received half of a bucket although we paid for a large, and then they never turned the lights on at the practice range!! We didn't have night vision goggles so we left very very disappointed. Their practice green was nice but the rest of the place was terrible. Go somewhere like Stonebridge where they care about customer service.

Nice course, good challenge

Played this several times on a vacation because it was 3 minutes from my friend's house. Reasonably priced, nice layout, well maintained, and fairly challenging. The par-3s are very challenging and fairly long, and it has a great reachable finishing par-5. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.

I was extremely disappointed with the condition of the course, and went in after playing to ask why things were so bad, and they didn't really seem to care, and just said "the heat has been really bad". Not a good experience, and I will find somewhere else to play next time.

This is a terrible course-lacks professional staff, course isn the worst in Charlotte, very poor condition of tee boxes, fairways, and greens. It has absolutely no accommodations or understanding for the handicapped or any physical impairment at all. Not worth the money.

Do not play at this course. The course itself is not in that great of shape and when I went it was overbooked so it took us 5 and 1/2 hours to play. Also their pro was an absolute jerk. His customer service is terrible. Avoid this place.

Goat ranch

IMO, would be better served as a parking lot.
