My favorite course in Colorado. Little different in todays world, bar/restaurant are closed right now, which is disappointing given the amazing view from the bar looking out over the range. No cart girl either for the course, so its bring your own water or buy a Gatorade at the check-in desk. Hoping it can open again this year.

Downside to this round was sprinklers were on for 10/11/12 and another 10 or so holes were absolutely soaked, which gave no roll and tough to hit an approach shot into the green from the fairway.

Difficult course if you spray it all over. It is very much a target golf course with many blind shots. There are 2 par 3's that are not in view from your tee box, only the flag is visible. I would like to see where my tee shot lands from the tee box. The course could use more signage when approaching the next set of tees (Hole #, yardage, etc.)
There were several GUR areas in the fairways but the course is in great shape for the end of Oct. Personally, I would go back to Redlands Mesa in GJ before I played here again. It just had a better vibe there. You can sure see the Engh design in this course.

For a local you can't beat the prices and specials they run. The course has awesome views and great elevation shots, but leave you with very tough fairway and recovery shots if you're not dead on with the big stick. Need to get the clubhouse in and don't be fooled by their website. The course is plagued with homes now and it distorts some of the scenery, but overall a must play. Especially in this valley!

Could be awesome when clubhouse is finished

Another great Engh course waiting for the clubhouse to be built. #9 green was in need of work, #18 one of the best risk reward finishing holes in Colorado. This overall ranking goes up (4.0-4.5) if they add a clubhouse equivelant to other Engh courses.

Get ready for a beating

Lakota Canyon is not for the beginning golfer. From the blues, it's a tough test and I don't even want to think about playing the blacks. A missed fairway is big trouble, and several holes are relatively narrow. The elevated tee boxes will also give your errant shots plenty of time to find trouble. You're not out of the woods once you finally make it to the greens either. The greens are firm, fast, and many are severely undulating.

The scenery is much better on the front nine holes. The back nine has the all-too-familiar problem of houses crowding in and ruining the scenic beauty of the surroundings.

The GPS system on the carts is one of the best that I've seen and even shows you the location of the other carts on your hole. This is very useful feature on the many doglegs. The course was in great condition, and the weather was perfect even if my golf game wasn't.

I was also charged $75 even though the course lists the twilight rates as being only $65. That may seem nit-picky, but hey, 10 bucks is 10 bucks.
