Devil's Thumb is one of the best courses I have played. I have never played a course quite like this one. The course is cut throught rock formations and prairie with beautiful views of Grand Mesa and surrounding mountain ranges. Tee boxes, fairways, and greens are all in good shape, but if you miss you will be punished by having to take a drop or hit amongst rocks and shrubs. I would recommend playing this course to anyone.

It's hard to believe there is even a golf course when you are trying to find Devil's Thumb as the road leading to it goes through barren, desolate hills. Suddenly, there it is! Played from the back tees, this is a difficult and challenging course with a great deal of variety. Greens are bentgrass and the fairways are bluegrass, both is good shape. The greens are fairly large and undulating. The driving range is excellent. Amenities are certainly adequate considering the location. It's a little pricier than I would have expected for a fairly isolated course in a low populated area, but well worth the cost. I recommend this course to anyone, but don't play from the back tees unless you have a macho problem or have no choice (as it was in my case).
