The 18-hole "Valley" course at the Rancho Del Sol facility in Moreno Valley, California features 3,547 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 36. Designed by Pete Dye, ASGCA, the Valley golf course opened in 1998.
The Moreno Valley Golf club was closed from 2015-2020 and recently reopened as the Rancho Del Sol golf club in August 2020. The golf course is built into mountains and overlooks the desert and the San Bernadino mountain range. The original course was 27 holes and was designed by Pete Dye, ASCGA. Shortly before it closed, the valley course (due to maintenance issues following droughts in California) was eliminated and the course became 18 holes. There are 3 tee boxes. There are two 9-hole courses - Mountain and Lake. The lake course is wide open with long fairways. On this course, you won’t find as many water features as you might expect. The mountain course is definitely the most interesting as you are playing uphill. Hole #6 on the mountain course is the signature hole at 459 yards from the black tee. The previous club has issues with hardpan bunkers, I’m not sure if this is still a problem on the current course. There are plans for a clubhouse (including a grill) and an apartment complex nearby. Last I heard, the $100 million proposal permit was still being reviewed. Currently, the rates are $30-$55 for Monday-Thursday golf (with the cart included,) $35-$65 for Fridays and $40-$75 for weekend golf. The dress code included collared shirts with shorts or slacks. No denim is permitted. Soft spikes are required as well. The driving range is currently under construction, but there is a putting green and a chipping practice area. Lessons are available with the course golf pro Cory Camilleri. Individual, group and on-course lessons are all available. Tee times can be booked on their new website - ranchodelsolgolf.com. The course seems to have improved with new ownership. The new clubhouse and driving range will add to the experience once complete. A unique course in a beautiful setting.
