An ok course for a bunch of old duffers. Greens can be difficult at times if placed close to edge of greens. Not a strong draw for me to want to play. Not a must play course!

Played here today and is the slowest playing golf course in town. Was told course would open up after the 4th or 5th hole - but there are so many 5- somes out there and the marshall are more worried about you parking your cart under the shade of a tree while waiting for the 3 groups of 5-somes to tee off rather than going out there and try to move play along. Staff is horrible - unless your a regular there or like playing 6+ hour rounds, don't bother playing there....

please don't play this course very unfriendly and arrogant staff. today cif playoffs were celebrated, my wife and myself took the day off from work to go support our kids, was asked to leave the premises by a very arrogant starter was told the course didn't accept spectators even though it wasn't posted anywhere when i asked the starter he didn't want to give us any valid reasons on why; he just said it was his policy and his bosse's. i play a lot of golf and this course will be in my not to play list and i hope it will be in yours.

I might play here very soon! I hope the staff doesn't give me a hard time. Besides I fairly new to the sport, but I can play a bogey game. I will post up comments after I play.

To many fivesomes on the course that slows down playing time but overall a fun course to play.

I played the course two weeks ago, and although there were some bare spots in the fairways, I found the course to be in pretty good shape overall.
The greens will nice, but slower than expected. I am told they get pretty fast in the summer.
This is a very nice course, some nice holes, especially on the back nine.
The pace of play is a little slow because fivesomes are allowed. The staff was curteous and helpful.

I played the course twice last week, once in the morning and then the twilight hours, both times play was really slow due to groups of 5 that are allowed on the course. Staff could be alot more friendly. A simple greeting would be nice, instead of just staring at you waiting for you to say something. The courses was at most in average conditions, a lot of bare spots throughout the different holes. Most of all, I DO NOT appreciate being charged $40 for the twilight hours when I see here it should have been only $35. Someone needs to update what the real prices are.
Will NOT play course again.

Just played this course and while the clubhouse facilities are quite nice, the course is in terrible shape. There were consistent bare patches of dirt in the fairway and lack of any type of grass in the primary rough. The course played slow to the the allowance of fivesomes, a truly abhorrent policy in urban golf. The golf operations are lacking in professionalism and courtesy.

In reponse to KEMMF. Exceptions should be made if it is not causing problems. I think ave58 had every right to give this course a bad review due to his mistreatment. This is not Pebble Beach.

Response To Ave58:

I appreciate your circumstance, your wish to change the golf course policy, and let others know what the current policy at Montebello Golf Course is. However your overall assesment of Montebello Golf Course, The Management Staff, Ralph Viramontes, and the Course Marshall's is grossly inaccurate. I host an annual golf tournament at Montebello Country Club to support Children's Charities, including Children with disabilities. Montebello Golf Course, the Management Staff, specifcally Ralph have bent over backwards time and again to help our cause, reduce our costs, and make appropriate accomadations for us and our players. I have found the individuals there to be customer service oriented and friendly.

As an avid golfer, I am aware, as I am sure you are, some golf courses make accomadations for handicapped and others don't. The current rules at Montebello Golf Course do not include allowing individuals to drive up to the green. This is a fact that can easily be found out prior to Tee time. Causing a problem, abusing the course marshall's (something that takes place everyday at Montebello Golf Course) and staff for merely inforcing the current rules and then posting negative comments about them for doing thier job is unfare and inappropriate.

Anyone interested in playing in our tournament, we hold it every year the Friday after Thanksgiving at Montebello Golf Course- Frank Millan, Golf Tournament Chair-

Don't play here, please...until the City of Montebello (who owns the the course) and the management staff change thier arrogant attitude......
I am a disabled person relying on two crutches for walking and everything else. On Nov 8 I was playing a round of golf with friends at the Motebello GC what turned out to be a worst day of my life in recent years. So, here is what happen: at the end of the 5th hole my partner drove and parked the cart approx 30 feet away from the green and waited for me as I was walking out of the green. A marshal approached and ordered the cart to move to the cart path. As I tried to explain what my partner was trying to do, the marshal told us this golf course has no special rule for handicapped people and if I do not like the rule then go to other place. What is more humiliating was the next statement he made, “if you have trouble walking then have your friend carry you to the green”. I complained at the starter, but I couldn’t believe my ears when this guy named Ralph Viramontes told me those marshals were following his orders. This tells me that this is not an individual marshal who is rude, but rather flowdown from the management. How could they be so rude to their customer and a disabled person?

The bottom line, I want Montebello GC (and the City) staff to change their attitude to players and accommodate something to handicapped people such as providing handicap flag, nothing more than what other courses offer. Not that I would come back here to play, but I just don’t want other people to experience humiliation that I went through.

If you guys have some suggestions, please post your suggestion. Thanks

Not a bad course, with a few memorable holes. #16 par 3 is a full carry over water, number 10 is a good dogleg downhill with water hiding in the corner. Not too difficult if you can stay out of the water.
