3D View & Yard Map need to revise!

Played here first time today, showed up/walk on and got right out. I shot a 104, which is usual for me on a par 72 course. Very challenging course, and I think if I played here again it would be easier to navigate the layups and bunkers better. All in all I found the course lots of fun, fairly easy to walk, with a great staff, great greens, interesting grass on the fairways?? kinda brownish and low cut, but good to play on. A little expensive, but they say it keeps the crowd down? Maybe so, pace was quick, no waiting, played 18 in 5 hours. Would definitely go back!

Just played a round here for the first time with 3 of my friends. My expectations were low since all the reviews here complain about this course. I only play municipal courses, and new to LA (East Coast native). After playing at many of the local courses (Rancho, Hansen, Whittier, Woodley, Hondo, Knollwood, Brookside, Royal Vista, to name a few) I have to say THIS IS MY FAVORITE COURSE BY FAR!

Not to say it's perfect by any means, but the course is relatively long compared to most others I've played. Design wise, it has it's share of challenges (namely bunkers.. lots of them), but overall playability suits people in the single and low double digit handicaps. Greens were crazy fun to put on. Lots of breaks, and relatively well maintained.

Did not experience any of the issues with the ground crew as expressed here. As a matter of fact, I only saw them once in my entire round. And even being next to an airport, this is one of the most serene public courses I've played on. It's kind of funny that people even complain about the grounds crew actually keeping the grounds during a round, when there's helicopters and planes landing just a mile away.

golf cart GPS actually WORKED, and worked great. Usually they're broken and/or inaccurate. These were right on, and even let you order food at the 9th, which also by the way is affordable and good. Breakfast Burrito for under 6 bucks.

Move's much faster then most courses in and around L.A.

Only complaint, it's a tad bit overpriced. But after having such a good experience, and comparing it to my 5.5 hr rounds at Rancho waiting at each tee for 15 mins, it's almost worth the premium.

Hey this course is overpriced and pretty easy but why does golf always have to be really hard? It plays fast and its in much better shape than it used to be.... played today and had a great time.... only took 3 and a half hrs.... $28 twilight

This course was rebuilt 3 to 4 years ago and while it has always been flat and boring the new greens and added bunkers made it fun to play for a course 1 mile from my house. Now the greens are in very poor condition and it is clear that the crew does not care about the golfers, regulary mowing greens and cutting fairways while you are trying to take your shot. The range ball price keeps increasing and most importantly the course while more expensive than the 3 others in the area; El Dorado, Lakewood CC and Big Rec all these are in far BETTER shape than Skylinks and as I said cheaper. I don't understand how the shortest, flattest and worst keept American Golf course is the most expensive in Long Beach. With that being said I like to play it because it at least plays fast (quite empty these days as its reputation has grown). I played 9 this morning in 85 minutes and made it to my office on time by 9:00. Nice friendly people in the proshop, Daniel is OK.

Played at this course twice during July08/Sept08. Both times were horrible. the maintenace crew didnt care if golfers were playing. they would mow the grass..and since the grass was dry.. it would fly all over the place. I WOULD NEVER PLAY AT THIS COURSE AGAIN!!!!

Greens were very slow and patchy. A lot of the tees were wet and you had to tee off a club or 2 behind the markers. Traps are well placed. A long ball hitter that stays close to the fairway will have very little problems. Overall a nice course however it is way over priced.

Drive out and play at a better course for same or less $$. Overpriced for a local course.

The course went through a major renovation and re-opened in 2004. The good news is that the re-design of the general layout and most of the holes is a vast improvement over the original design. What had been a pretty mundane muni with a few interesting holes is now a much better layout with a lot of variety. The bad news is that the conditions can be pretty spotty. Some fairways are in quite good shape while others make you feel like you're hitting off a pool table. Similarly, the greens will vary from smooth, true, and green to patchworks of both grass and nearly-bare turf, and there are tons of unrepaired ballmarks on every one. The pro shop has been nicely upgraded.

the fairways are very well maintained and the same goes for the hazards. however as iainbc has put it, the greens are a different story. the grass is short and very hard. at first i thought that the greens we're poorly maintained but i after closer examination the greens are so hard its difficult to repair your divot in the manner we're used to at other courses. this course was fun, and i feel the greens affected my game minimally, i would still recommend this course to anyone that wanted to have a good time. by the way, the food at the cafe was sub par and the service was pretty slow too.

The greens were terrible a couple of days ago. The marshalls were making sure the group ahead of us (3some) was keeping pace with our 5some which was nice. They ended up getting kicked off a hole and getting moved up. Someone that day had been taking their cleats to the greens
