Course Reviews

Course in TERRIBLE shape - 3 greens closed, the rest unputtable - obvious lack of funds and maintenance - we were here 5 years ago and it was horrible - now it is worse. Head pro/owner is a great guy but the course is in such disrepair it would take years and TONS of money to refurbish it. I have probably played 200 different golf courses - this is the worst I have ever played. The Alpine resort is equally as bad - dated, unkempt condos with no amenities - truly a waste of money to come here - stay in Birmingham and play The Trail courses .

Nice course, but was quoted a price of $29 including lunch; arrived at course and it was $39 without lunch. I value honor above all else, so I won't play this course again.

great fairways, wide and helpful to a bogey golfer like myself. the beer cart was right on time. plan to play each time i visit alabama

Very nice course, but could use some work on the greens

get the bunkers in actual bunker shape(put sand in them) and this will be a super nice course. I remember as a kid when they built the course and now when I travel home to my folks I alwasy try and get in a round. I also agree with a good looking cart girl hehehe

First time on the course. Enjoyed playing it.

I hadn't played Alpine in several years. I was pleasantly surprised, to say the least. With the dry and hot weather we've had lately, the greens and fairways have held up really well. The green were soft and held shots really well...which is a plus for golfers like me. A couple of greens have some spots around the edges that need some work, and some of the bunkers are almost unplayable, but all in all, I'll play Alpine any chance I get. It's a great value for a Robert Trent Jones designed course.

The fees for this course on weekends have increased to $40.00. The course is in very good shape compared to what it used to be. It is under new managment which is the reason. The fairways are very good, while there is still some fringes around the greens being worked on. They have referbished some of the bunkers and/or completed some also. A couple of the tee boxes have been moved to increase the difficulty. Number 18 is now across the road from where it used to be (if you are at number two tee box look behined you). What they have done is put them back in the original place. This course is on the rise in quality and the best it's been in a very long time. If you stopped playing here because of the way it was not maintained, give it another play now it's so much better! There was a beer cart there the last time I played young lady included. I noticed the satelite photo on this page is old. Allmost all of the hard pan areas visible in the photo are not there, and some of the bunkers don't show sand in them. while not all are completed more are then the photo shows.

WHALON ELLISON

ALL THIS COURSE NEEDS IS A BEER CART WITH A PRETTY LADY DRIVING IT AROUND THE COURSE AND WITH THE GREENS HOLDING LIKE THEY DO THERE WOULD BE NO PUBLIC WITHIN 50 MILES THAT COULD HOLD UP TO THIS COURSE.
I WAS VERY IMPRESSED WITH THE STAFF ALSO (VERY FRIENDLY)

First Time

Need course tips and information about hotels with golf included in the rate.
