Let’s face it, many golfers never walk the course, ever. If all you do is ride, shouldn’t you have a bag that fits the way you play golf? We found the best golf cart bags to suit your needs.

Granted, if you only want one golf bag, and you walk and ride, a hybrid bag is your best bet. But if you always ride, or if you have more than one golf bag, consider a cart bag, one that (as the name implies) is designed specifically for carts.

Some walkers always use a push cart, myself included. I could honestly get away with just having a cart bag that I use when I walk and ride. A good cart bag, or at least a hybrid bag, is always better than a carry bag on a push cart. Carry bags just don’t fit push carts well, and while they tend to work better on powered carts, most of them don’t have a pass-through for the cart strap, which means some of the pockets are usually impeded when they’re strapped to a cart.

With all that said, an investment in a cart bag can be worthwhile. Not only do they work better with carts, but they also have loads of storage space. That means you can put extra apparel, drinks, and all kinds of gadgets, like a large bluetooth speaker, in them if you’d like.

There are lots of great cart bags on the market, so finding the best one for you depends on your preferences. If you want for a tour look, consider spending a little extra on a Vessel or Ghost Golf bag. With that in mind, all the bags on this list excel in quality and features.

Pros:

  • Lots of storage space
  • Ventilated cooler pocket
  • Unique cart strap system

Cons:

  • No magnetic rangefinder pocket

The Sun Mountain C-130 is probably the most popular cart bag in the United States. Every time I play, I see a Sun Mountain C-130 on the back of a cart, and for good reason; it’s a great cart bag.

The C-130, named for the huge military cargo plane, comes with a full-length 14-way divider top. In case you’re interested, there is a C-130 Stand Bag, too. It has legs and two fewer pockets (9). Some like the stand version because they work better on the range, but in my opinion, if you always ride, the C-130 Cart Bag is the gold standard.

The C-130 has lots of cool colorway options, it’s fairly light at just under seven pounds, and it’s pretty easy to maneuver in and out of the trunk of the car with its ergonomic handles and balance.

Among its spacious pockets is a ventilated cooler pocket, which means you can store some cool drinks and ice during your round. Sun Mountain’s Smart Strap System attaches the bag to a riding cart with two velcro straps that stop it from twisting on the cart and keep the cart’s strap from impeding access to the pockets.

Additionally, the C-130 has an umbrella sleeve instead of just a loop. It’s just much more secure for your umbrella than those awkward loops that don’t really secure umbrellas well on most bags.

SHOP SUNDAY GOLF
Pockets: 12
Weight: 7 lbs
Typical Price: $300

Pros:

  • Loads of storage space
  • Extra large cooler pocket that drains
  • Pass-through for cart strap

Cons:

  • 14-way divider (as most cart bags have) doesn’t appeal to everyone

I’ve used this Sunday Golf Big Rig a lot over the past year, especially when it’s hot and when I’m either riding or using a push cart (especially a powered push cart).

Sunday Golf’s Big Rig bag has tons of space, sits well on carts with its cart strap pass-through, is well-balanced, and not too heavy, considering the size of the bag.

But what I like best is the Frosty Pocket, which can hold up to seven cans of your favorite beverage (of course, you’re going to purchase those beverages at the golf course, right?). Since the Frosty Pocket drains, you can actually put ice in it too, giving you cold beverages throughout your round.

But the Big Rig has some other really great features, like a magnetic pocket that can be used for your rangefinder (again, very helpful if you're using a push cart), generous apparel pockets, and a lined valuables pocket that is probably one of the deepest I’ve ever used. I can easily put my keys, wallet, and phone in there without worrying that anything would fall out if I forgot to zip it up.

It has a 14-way top, including a separate putter well, which means those clubs aren’t going to bang around. I still personally prefer a five-way or six-way top, but I understand the appeal of a separate slot for each club.

Pockets: 11
Weight: 6.8 lbs
Typical Price: $350

Pros:

  • Secures clubs in their slots
  • Lots of storage space
  • Very stylish

Cons:

  • No pass-through for cart strap

Like the name says, the Ogio Silencer cart bag will silence the clanking that clubs make in most bags. Your clubs simply can’t move around because of the unique channels at the top of this 15-way top. (That’s right; there’s an extra slot if you want to go over the 14-club limit.)

The only drawback to this is that if you use oversized grips, it is a bit more difficult to get clubs in and out of the bag.

The rubber teeth in each slot grab the shafts of each club, and that you could even turn this bag upside down and the clubs wouldn’t fall out. Of course, that doesn’t happen much, but anyone who has been playing golf long enough has had a bag tip over on a push cart or in some other scenario where the clubs have started to fall out. With the Ogio Silencer, that can’t happen.

Beyond the silencer aspect, though, these Ogio golf bags are stylish with great color schemes and designs (Tropical Punch is my favorite), have lots of large pockets, and fit well on powered carts or push carts. The lack of a strap pass-through is a negative, though, meaning that a cart strap can impede access to the upper pockets.

SHOP VESSEL
Pockets: 30
Weight: 9.3 lbs
Typical Price: $519

Pros:

  • High-end feel and appearance
  • 30 total pockets (four magnetic)
  • Hidden wedding band and AirTag compartments
  • Cooler pocket with drain

Cons:

  • Premium price

Vessel recently introduced its best cart bags to date with the Lux Cart Series II and Lux Pro Cart Series II. If you want all the bells and whistles, however, the Pro Cart Series II is the choice. Vessel left nothing out.

It starts with a super premium look and feel with its leather touchpoints, but what really makes this bag stand out are the seemingly endless features. There are 30 pockets (18 external), including four that are magnetic, two of which are large side pockets. You can’t have enough magnetic pockets, in my opinion.

Some of the new features include a dedicated wedding band pocket and a discreet AirTag compartment. Some of my other favorite features include the dual bottle sleeves and a cooler pocket, which you fill with ice and a few drinks. The latter is especially helpful if you’re using a push cart, which is where this bag really excels. It’s great on a powered cart, too, of course.

It comes in two different top options – a seven-way, which is slightly lighter, and a 15-way top with a dedicated putter well. It also has three grab handles on top. And there’s a cart strap pass-through tunnel so as not to impede the pockets. Vessel includes a cart strap sleeve protector to prevent wear marks on these beautiful bags.

Other cool features include two personal pockets, an integrated umbrella holder, a dual-purpose towel ring you can open bottles with, and a battery pack pouch.

Pockets: 15
Weight: 9.5 lbs
Typical Price: $360

Pros:

  • Incredible amount of storage space
  • Two front-facing magnetic pockets
  • Cart strap channel

Cons:

  • A little on the heavy side

We already know Ping makes some of the best golf bags in the business – the Hoofer has often been deemed the best overall bag on the market – but this new DLX takes the company’s cart bag offerings to a new level.

With 15 pockets providing 34 liters of space, including two magnetic pockets that can be used for a rangefinder and a variety of other items, its storage space is unsurpassed. There’s also an insulated pocket for cold beverages or snacks, plus a pocket dedicated to shoes.

It’s a quality build that looks great, has a 15-way top with a very large putter well – accommodating even the largest putter grips –  and is durable and easy to care for.

The Ping DLX also has a cart-strap channel, which is imperative for gaining access to pockets on most bags when strapped to a golf cart or push cart. Other features include velcro glove patches, a matching nylon rain hood, and a key clip.

Pockets: 11
Weight: 7.4 lbs
Typical Price: $475

Pros:

  • Luxurious, sleek appearance
  • Magnetic upper pocket goes over strap
  • 14-way, velour-lined dividers

Cons:

  • Ghost Golf logos are a bit overwhelming

Like the Vessel luxury bags, the Ghost Golf GT-14 Cart Bag makes a statement about the golfer who uses one. It’s very distinct with its markings, quality material, and features, including a magnetic rangefinder pocket (which is especially important if you’re using a push cart), cooler pockets, and a movable upper pocket that goes over the cart strap. There’s also a pass-through on the side of the bag, so all the pockets are very accessible.

The outer material is an abrasion-resistant PU leather that looks terrific, and so do the accents Ghost Golf uses, including the zipper tag that says, “Play Fearlessly.”

Some other cool features include glove keepers, pen holders, and a towel clasp that doubles as a bottle opener.

It’s not too heavy at 7.4 pounds, and it’s easy to maneuver in and out of your vehicle with its three grab handles. There’s really nothing not to like about this bag, unless your preference is a five or six-way top instead of a 14-way.

Stewart Golf Nero 2 Cart Bag

SHOP STEWART GOLF
Pockets: 9
Weight: 7 lbs
Typical Price: $399

Pros:

  • Ideal for Stewart-powered push carts
  • Magnetic front pocket
  • Two velour-lined valuable pockets

Cons:

  • No pass-through for cart strap

When you talk about cart bags, the assumption is that the golfer is riding. But the Stewart Golf Nero 2 Cart Bag is specifically designed for the company’s electric push carts, which means it fits seamlessly with those models.

With that said, it’s more than adequate for a riding cart, and it will certainly work well with other push carts, whether they are powered or not.

The only drawback is that the Stewart bag doesn’t have a strap pass-through. When you pair it with a Stewart cart, the straps fall above the pockets, still allowing easy access, but that’s not always the case when paired with a motorized cart or another push cart.

This bag has a premium look with plenty of storage space, including two velour-lined valuables pockets and a magnetic front pocket ideal for holding a rangefinder. Again, the last part is important because if you’re using a push cart, you want a pocket that opens and closes quickly for your rangefinder with no fear of it falling out. Zippered pockets don’t work well for rangefinders.

The other features on this bag include a 14-way top, a built-in raincover, and a full-length sheath for an umbrella.  Weighing just seven pounds with ergonomic grab handles, it’s also pretty easy to get in and out of the trunk of a car.

Pockets: 12
Weight: 8.8 lbs

Pros:

  • Terrific value
  • Clubs stay quiet
  • Insulated ice and beverage pocket

Cons:

  • No magnetic pocket

If you haven’t heard of Ask Echo, you’re not alone, but it’s a serious contender if you’re in the market for a cart bag.

The reason? Value.

Many of these bags have been discounted to a good bit less than $200, so you’re getting a lot for the money.

The Ask Echo T-Lock is loaded with features. It has a 14-way top with the T-Lock System, which keeps all your clubs in place, not rattling around when in use.

It also has 12 generous pockets, including a large insulated cooler pocket that drains, so you load it with both ice and drinks.

What it doesn’t have is a magnetic pocket for your rangefinder, but if you’re riding, that’s really not a big deal anyway (a different story, as noted above, if you’re using a push cart).

It also has a flip-cover cart strap system designed to give you easy access to all your products, which is another important feature for any cart bag.

Your Cart Bag, Your Call

If you’re trying to find the best golf cart bag, you have a few key specs to weigh. A strap pass-through is a big convenience because it keeps all your gear accessible on the course.

Beyond that, consider how you prioritize weight, number of pockets, value, and the divider system. The choice between a 14-way (or even 15-way divider) or a more traditional five or 6-way divider is purely personal preference.

Of course, this is golf. Style is huge too. Sometimes finding a bag that just suits your eye is enough to tip the scales.

In the end, it’s your bag and your game. Pick what fits you best.
