Scotty Cameron Newport 2 Putter Review
Specs

The traditional and timeless design of the Scotty Cameron putter has been expertly refined and updated to produce the high-performance Newport 2. A stainless steel head and interchangeable weight system provide unrivaled stability and balance, and Cherry Dot graphics and overhead sight line help line up precision putts with the utmost accuracy. A high toe profile and stepless shaft also help the player correctly address the ball and ensure a smooth, linear stroke from any distance.

Perks

The amazing look and feel of the Newport 2, combined with the traditional excellence of Scotty Cameron putters is enough to instill confidence in any golfer. Interchangeable weights help keep the putter head low through the stroke and allow players to adjust the putter to their exact preferences. Shaft design helps produce a smooth, linear stroke, even from long distances. Steel construction is highly durable but still allows for a soft, smooth feel.

Sacrifices

Very few. The Newport 2 is fairly expensive, but the craftsmanship and design are the best in the business. Some golfers may struggle with trying to adjust the interchangeable weights to best suit their playing style and swing motion. Players accustomed to more traditional putters may find the feel of stroke impact a bit too soft.

Bottom Line

Impeccable engineering and craftsmanship make the Newport 2 one the best putters in the game. The weight system and shaft design allow for remarkable consistency and distance control and can immediately help any golfer cut strokes and build confidence on the greens.

Golf Equipment Tip of the Day

Using Frequency to Test the Flex of Your Shafts
by Jeff Jackson
What's the flex of your shafts? At one time, a golfer could safely answer that his or her shafts were stiff, regular or ladies flex. That simply isn't the case any longer. Most manufacturers have their own method of shaft measurement. What this means is that one company's "R" flex shaft may actually be softer than another's "A" or even "L" flex. How, then, can a golfer select the appropriate shaft if no manufacturing standard exists? In a word: frequency.
