How to Measure for Fitted Golf Clubs

How to Measure for Fitted Golf Clubs
Golfers who want to get fitted for clubs generally are not beginners. They have been playing the game for at least two years, and they have reached some level of proficiency. Purchasing fitted clubs is a time-consuming process that does not suit the needs of the beginner, who is better served by cobbling together a set of used clubs and taking lessons before considering the purchase of an advanced set. If you're ready for them, however, buying fitted clubs not only ensures you get clubs of the correct length, but they also fit your game

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Step 1
Have your swing analyzed by a top local pro before you buy a custom set of fitted clubs. Are you an accurate hitter, or is this an issue? Do you get great length off the tee, or are you an average hitter? Having this information is important.
Step 2
Get recommendations on the top clubs that are manufactured. If you are going to pay more than $2,000 for a set of fitted clubs, you don't want to find that they don't meet your needs six months later. Always go with a company like TaylorMade, Callaway or Ping when considering fitted clubs.
Step 3
Go to the golf discount warehouses in your area and ask to swing a number of different clubs. It's best to have a feel for the clubs before you decide which clubs you want to be fitted for. Many of the golf discount warehouses will be more than happy to help you, because they have areas where you can swing golf clubs.
Step 4
Talk to club professionals once you have decided which clubs feel best to you. Once you can say which clubs you like and why, the club pro can confirm your conclusions. For example, you may tell the club pro that you like Wilson clubs because of their solid construction. He may say that if solid construction is important to you that you should try Ping before committing to Wilson. His knowledge can help you before you put down your money.
Step 5
Get fitted once you have decided what specs you want in your clubs and who the manufacturer should be. After you are measured and make your down payment, you should have your clubs in four to six weeks.

Tips & Warnings

Do not rush into your decision. Talk to club pros and get their opinions before you make your final purchase decision.
