Hybrid Golf Clubs Information

Hybrid Golf Clubs Information
Hybrid golf clubs, also known as utility clubs, are a combination of characteristics from irons and woods. The manufacturers attempt to take the best characteristics from both to make a versatile golf club.

Materials

Hybrid golf clubs are made with the same materials as regular golf clubs. It is the dimensions of the club that make it a hybrid.

Shaft Length

Hybrids have shorter shafts than that of a wood with a similar loft angle, which makes hybrids easier to control and more accurate.

Head Shape

A hybrid has a head that is larger and heavier than the head of an iron, but it is still smaller than a head of a wood.

Loft

Because hybrid golf clubs have a lower center of gravity, the ball is easier to get in the air, so hybrids have more loft than irons with a similar angle on the club head.

Versatility

Because hybrids combine characteristics of clubs designed for one purpose, they can be used in multiple situations.

Golf Equipment Tip of the Day

How to Give Your Golf Clubs a Tuneup
by John D. Tudor
During the course of a year, an avid golfer's clubs are swung anywhere between 18,000 and 20,000 times, carried or hauled on a golf cart for about 3,000 miles, roughly handled another 1,000 times, tossed about the trunk of a car for over 20,000 miles and swung in a variety of less-than-perfect situations involving low-hanging branches, rocks and hardpan. Obviously, the stress and strain a golf club endures goes far beyond that for which it's designed, so now is the perfect time to examine your woods and irons and, if necessary, get them back into playing shape.
