Dr. Fran Pirozzolo is a licensed consulting psychologist specializing in the
fields of Neuropsychology and Sports Psychology. He has worked with many of
the world's top athletes and is currently the Mental Skills Coach for the
Texas Rangers Baseball Club.
Dr. Pirozzolo was the Mental Skills Coach for the New York Yankees from
1996-2002, a period during which the Yankees won four World Championships.
From 1988-1995 Pirozzolo worked for the Houston Astros and with the Detroit
Tigers in 2000. Dr. Pirozzolo became the player development coach for the
NFL's Houston Texans from 2002 -2006. His work with the Texans resulted in
winning the Winston Shell Award for excellence in player development.
Pirozzolo was a training consultant for the Heavyweight Champion of the World,
Evander Holyfield, from 1990-1998.
Dr. Pirozzolo has published 14 books and over 250 scientific and popular
articles. His golf books include: THE GAME I LOVE (Harper Collins) with golf
legend, Sam Snead, THE MENTAL POCKET COMPANION (Harper Collins) and THE
PUTTER'S POCKET COMPANION (Harper Collins). Fran collaborated with Jim
McLean on the Golf Channel Production of "Sam Snead: A SWING FOR A
LIFETIME". Fran's most recent book is entitled, MULTIPLE INTELLIGENCE IN
LEADERSHIP (with scholars, Ron Riggio and Susan Murphy at the Kravis Leadership
Institute – Clarmont-McKenna College).
Holding degrees from the University of Chicago and the University of Rochester,
Fran began his career on the faculty of psychology and neurology at UCLA. He
moved on to the University of Minnesota, Department of Neurology and the VA
GRECC in 1978. He came to the Baylor College of Medicine (Houston, TX) in
1981, serving as Chief of Neuropsychology Service for 15 years. He also was an
Associate Professor of Psychology at the University of Houston. For the last
12 years he has been a private practice consulting psychologist in The
Woodlands. He is affiliated with the Woodlands Sports Medicine Centre – The
Woodlands, Texas and Shadow Hawk/Houstonian Golf Clubs in Houston, Texas.
