I wanted to loved this course. I have played many of Dye's best (Sawgrass, Kiawah Ocean, Mystic Rock) and many of the top 100. I was never blown away with the straits course. It was in great shape. The greens were true. The caddy was helpful. However, I found Sawgrass and Kiawah island to be overall beter golf experiences. I know I am splitting hairs amongst the top 10 public course, however, as $400 a round it is justified.

Awesome! I played this course with the head pro, and really got to understand how it would play prior to the PGA Championship. It was a brutal play, with the wind blowing around 30mph. After a few rounds, the lines to play would become more apparent. There a holes you can score birdies on, but holes 15, 17, and 18 are some of the toughest finishing holes. Clubhouse was very neat, and the bar/pub was excellent. Pro shop was very well stocked. I really enjoyed the course and it deserves a Top Ten rating, Public or Private!
