So I played this place twice (May and June, 2011) after taking off from touching it the past 15 years. The new management that took over a few years ago have really turned this around. The fairways were all in great shape, greens (except #2, which was being worked on) were well kept and fast and the staff was actually professional. The front 9 are tight and you better be straight with your driver, the back 9 is wide open and the par 3 14 looks as if you are in the great smokey mountains. The price is between $20 and $35, but with the Player Card ($60) I am guaranteed $20 weekdays, $25 weekends. The bad: It is a drive to get to, the number 2 green is rough as it is under construction and not much of a selection in the pro shop.

They tell me a new management group takes over Jan. 2009. Seems to be making small steps toward providing a decent product. Tees and Greens were painted and in decent shape, but the rest is still a little rough. New golf pro on staff seemed nice and encouraged that Hidden Valley would continue to improve. I guess the previous group that managed the course left it in hurry with very little resources left over to work with. $25 on a Saturday for 18 Holes, its hard to complain too much for that kind of value. I will go back, maybe in the spring to see if progress is really being made. It still remains a good layout, just hope it gets in better shape

This course was terrible. It was in poor condition, no golf shop, no tees, no balls, snack bar food was terrible. Customer service sucked. They just changed over management, but no change in the condition of the course, which was poorly maintained. Their big improvements went bust and it looks like the course will be destined for mediocrity. This course should stay hidden.

The name says it all. I enjoyed the layout but that's about as far as I would go. The course is in terrible shape and the carts were just as bad. I will never play that course again until major changes have occured.

If the other review is correct that they are rebuilding, then wait until this happens. they are not taking care of anything. It needs alot of maintenance done. Service level was horrible and their golf carts almost broke down on the course.

great scenery-good value-they are closing soon to build a new course on same property with new house surrounding it

There truly is not much to recommend about this course. I have played it three times even though I swore after the first time I would never play it again. As far as I was concerned it could remain hidden. But the addtional two times I was with someone who convinced me that the made really great improvements to the course. They were wrong. The rough when I played it was weeds, hard pan and lots of sand. The fairway was patchy. Greens were only fair and the carts were of questionable vintage. It is funny because the course is actually hard to find even with directions. I say don't bother.

Might have been good, once...

It's a nice layout with interesting geography but in need of substantial refurbishment. My guess is that somebody put some money into building it but that it was a little too far outside of Columbia to draw enough golfers to pay for adequate maintenance. The greens were actually pretty good but the fairways were sparse and weedy and the roughs were just sand and hardpack with no irrigation. At $29 (with cart) on a Sunday morning, it was quite cheap. Would have been annoyed if I'd paid any more.
