Course Reviews

I drive an hour at least six times a year just to play Wyncote. It rates up there with some of the best courses I play in South East PA and the South Jersey area. The course is challenging but fair, well maintained and the Greens are fast and true (10+). It is truly like a wide open Scottish style course with some protected areas, no trees that come into play and some very nice views of the Pennsylvania landscape. But be warned the wind is always in play, sometimes even on your putts.

The Clubhouse has a feeling of a private club and the restaurant has a very good menu both for lunch and dinner. It’s a Golfing experience you don’t mind making a day of.

After playing this course for the first time, it made a solid impression. Most everything looked well kept and the staff was fairly knowledgable. Unfortunately the greens were just airated the other day, so I didn't get to experience the same greens most people rave about, but it didn't take away from the round for the most part, they still roll fairly well. Would definitely reccommend trying it.

I recently played Wyncote and came away very impressed. The fairways and greens were in great shape and the rough around the greens was very consistent. It's a very tough course and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who is more than a 15-20 handicap. The wind swirls, the greens are fast and the rough almost always amounts to a lost or unplayable ball. That said, there are a lot of interesting holes, and the greens were in absolutely amazing shape. Definitely buy a yardage book though or you will be guessing an awful lot.

The staff was really helpful and the restaurant is also legit.

Awesome golf course. Played on a near perfect weather day, Sunny, almost no wind and mid 60's. I'm sure a normal windy day would have made this course a lot more difficult. You definitely have to hit it straight off the tee or you will normally be in some serious trouble. A very fair course though and it was in spectacular condition, especially since it is the middle of Nov. You can't beat $40 winter rates for this course. It's a steal really, compared to some other local 'winter rates' courses that are still in $50's that aren't nearly as nice as Wyncote. Staff was very friendly and a first class facility all around.

Course is beautifully maintained, almost flawless. Have seen few facilities kept this pristine. The staff were exceptional and friendly. The cart comes around constantly. You get the feeling the staff actually want you to be playing there, which isn't always the case :) The clubhouse is upscale and very welcoming.

This course is deceptively challenging. Standing on most tees the fairways look narrow to the eye and anything wildly offline is probably gone as there are many environment areas which you are not permitted to enter. My drive on #4 was maybe 8 yards right of the fairway and I could not find it in the rough. I did find 6 balls in the area where mine would have landed, gives you an idea of how many balls get lost out here. You might select your 3w off the tee more than normal here. A good drive and a 3w will get you to the fringe of at least 2 of the par 5s. A pet peeve of mine is par 3s over 200 yards and all the par 3s on this course are shorter than that (except the black tees on 17) and fair tests of short to mid irons, which I appreciate. I look forward to my 2nd round since I think local knowledge really helps here because more than a few times you can be on the tee, or in the center of the fairway, and not see the target. For example, on the 18th, standing over your 2nd, it's not immediately obvious that the fairways turns sharply right to the green. Not an inexpensive round but this is a quality golf course, and demands your attention on every shot. The condition makes you pleased you came.

appears easy, but with mounds, water, bunkers, and long wispy heather waste areas, the course requires straight shooting. the heather makes this course harder than tree-lined courses for those with wayward tee shots, as if you can even find your ball, you have a slim chance of reaching the green, unless you tee it up in the heather. the couse was in outstanding shape, and the greens are primarily on the large circumference. Recommend high-handicap golfers bring plenty of golf balls, as they will struggle on this course, and might become too frustrated with lost balls in the heather, as it acts like a vacuum cleaner. A fine blend of short and long holes. Both no. 1 and 10 are reachable in 2 shots in seasonal weather, but offer the daunting task of threading the needle between water and heather boundaries. the clubhouse is upscale, and the proshop course accessories are overpriced( example: $10 for a standard divot tool with a ball mark, usually sells from $3 to $5). staff was cordial and helpful. superintendent performs superb care, as all the grass was healthy and thick grown, couldn't even recall see any weeds, and there were few bare spots. No. 12 is a dare hole, try to crank it close the the 300 yd green, over water and wasteland heather growth, or play position with an iron or 5 wood off the tee.
A challenging test of golf for the low handicapper, as there is potential to birdie, but also for bogey or worse too. While the novice will find it too overwhelming, as the guise of open areas, conceals the calamities stealthily adorning the golf course. a classy course.

Beautiful upscale course, staff is a little snotty with their nose up in the air. After you pay you will enjoy a very scenic open-style links course. Bring xtra balls, you will lose alot in the high wispy ruff. Amust play if u can spare $100.00 bucks on the weekend

Excellent, links style course. Relatively easy to walk.

This course is one that you do not want to try to bomb - placement is far more important than length. The wind will reek havoc with your game if it is up - it seems to change directions on you at the wisp of a moment.

Excellent value if you like to walk and can play later in the day.

If you can't hit the ball straight, dont bother going to wyncote unless you like spending a lot of time in fescue. The pace of play was a bit slow due to this, but i still enjoyed the course. Even though there is fescue, it is certainly a fair test of golf. Solid par threes.
