as a young less experienced golfer this course wasnt much for me. when i played this course last year i got myself way in over my head and so did my friend that played it with me. we only played the front 9, and chose to walk them at that due to the price for a cart. even with us being very competitive because the loser was buying dinner, we scored about 5 under par, for the entire course, only playing the front 9.

Well next year is today and the results only improved slightly. Still disappointed with greens condition for a course that presents itself as a prominent course.I played tanglewood, cool creek, dauphin highlands, lancaster host, and honey run in prior weeks; they all had superior putting greens to the bridges. Tanglewood & cool creek greens were like carpet. Bridges greens were aerated at the end of October, and still haven't fully recovered. After a month, you would think otherwise. Plug holes visible and detered putting. greens were very bumpy, and some putts took unexpected detours from their line. Everything else is appealing. Most of the holes are either isolated, and greatly seperated, so you feel as though just your party is on the course, and are enjoying the scenery and nature's sounds.
Next time, before I travel there, I'll ask them if they guarantee their greens are in superb shape.

very disappointed with greens this time of year. most courses aerated their greens several months ago. The Bridges was late in this process, doing it this past week, which compromised putting, and detracted from enjoying a challenging game.
the staff was friendly and cooperative, but should have advised about the green situation, or lowered rates. very nice setting, with excellent amount of adjoining fairway separation.
wait until next year to play this course, as winter will not accelerate the regrowth on the greens.

We had 2 groups play on 5 June 08 and after playing this course, there was not a single complaint but only compliments which were commensurate with what we paid. Everyone wants 5 star conditions and amenities and if you have to pay a considerable amount of money then its only right to expect 5 star conditions. But for $26.00 with tee time??? Come on, give this place a break !! We found this course and scenery to be well worth the money . Yes , there were a few "wet spots" but the course is beautiful, the fairways well maintained, the greens were true but blemished by INCONSIDERATE, LAZY GOLFERS who didn't repair their ball marks. Tee boxes were in good/excellent condition. Despite other "negative comments", we found this place to be a "must play" if you are in the abbottstown area.

The Bridges is a nice course that did not quite live up to my expectations. The course played fair but as stated in the past review, the greens were not up to par. I was also disappointed for such a course not to have 150 yard stakes visible along the fairway…little markers in the ground are certainly not as convenient. With that said, an enjoyable round of golf is certainly available. The Par 4 2nd hole dares you to hit a very straight drive as it doglegs severely to the left. The Par 3 4th has “sneaky” bunkers on either side of the green. The Par 5 5th hole is very reachable in two if you hit a precise fading tee-shot around the trees to the right. The green is almost invisible for your second shot on the Par 4 6th. Hole number 8 has a lone tree and a pond to contend with, plus is a lengthy Par 5. The Par 4 ninth hole allows little error off the tee due to trees on the right and left. I found the back nine a little less challenging though on the 10th hole, you do not want to crush your drive into the wetlands. The Par 3 16th is one of the prettier holes in the area. Water comes into play on your approach shot on Hole 17 and Hole 18 offers the same challenge as Hole 9. I liked the set-up of this course though most of the “bridges” didn’t really come into play. Again, my frustration came from not knowing exactly how many yards to the green.

This Golf Course and Hotel were sub par. The Rooms at the Bridges were not clean. I woke up the next morning with welts all over my body from bed bugs. The course was nothing to get excited about either. Some of the holes felt like the architect ran out of space designing the course. The Greens were absolutely a disgrace. They had no control over the poanna and the greens were like putting down a gravel road. If you are heading out to Gettysburg to play golf. Don't stop here. I suggest Penn National resort. It is 100X better

Recently played in the Senior Tournament at the Bridges. I really enjoy the course. Course was in good condition except for a couple of spots here and there but overall a nice venue.
On the flip side of this at the Seniors we put in skin money believing (as we were told) that it would be paid out by age group. Needless to say that the 5 birdies I had only one when I left was still not halved. After weeks of waiting I called and they changed the criteria. I will play there again but never in their tournaments. Plus, why would they wait to pay out the money and not pay it out that day when everyone was still there.
Course rating: 4 stars
Handling of the tournament: Minus 5 Stars.

I like this course because it is well marked and in excellent condition right now. Forward tees provide a challenge but not overwhelming. Restrooms on the course are clean and maintained. Snack Bar very good and cheap.

A very good course to play

I played the course on Saturday morning 6-16-07. It was beautiful, challenging and, although the greens were fast, they were true. This course will join anyone's list of favorite places to play.

Wonderful course

Play here 3-4 times a year, most recently 5-15-07. Layout is excellent: no two holes look quite alike, and there are not a lot of parallel holes, although neither are there absolutely isolated holes. Terrain is relatively flat, and walkable, except for some long distances from green to tee on a few holes. Conditions on 5-15: tee boxes were in good shape; fairways excellent; greens a bit slower than expected, but not too bad; bunkers were in good shape, but contain a very heavy grain sand, so some additional care is required. Design does not have many "trick" holes, but there are a frew cass where it pays to have an experienced golfer in the group, or else drive up to look at the shot: numbers 2, 6, and 13 are in this category. BTW, the scorecard is excellent; has a diagram of evdry hole, with distance markings. Pro shop is small, but reasonably stocked, and the bar/restaurant is very nice, with a terrific wait staff. Prices are very modest: pitcher of beer is $6.50, and an order of fries, is $2.00. Greens fees are no bad, and the course is in the Tee Time book, and regularly runs coupons in the local papers. If I lived closer, wouold play here much more often - it is a very nice golf course. Give it a try!

Great golf with great scenery. A bit high on the price - but you can find coupons to help with that. I would recommend it.
