Course Reviews

I think this is the second best public golf course in Western NY, only public course that is better is Seneca Hickory Stick in Lewiston. The course plays extremely difficult when the heather is high and thick in the middle of summer. You might want to stay away on the weekends, or play in the afternoon to avoid the crowds and players that look for 5 minutes per ball they lose in the heather. If you can hit straight and keep your balls out of the heather you should be able to score nicely. Show up 45 minutes early for your tee time and hit some balls on their practice chipping area, perfect to get warmed up. Friendly staff and fast play during the week. Best value course in WNY by far.

This course failed to impress me, especially for the green fees they are charging. First, I was forced into a four-some with three other younger guys that arrived together. Per the starting official I was absolutely not allow to golf alone. The fairways and tee boxes were nothing special, no better than several other courses in the area. Greens were very inconsistant. They also have an excess of employees patrolling the course during play, one shouted hello to me while I was standing over my tee. I thought he wanted something since he nearly interrupted my swing, but he was just saying hi apparently.
All this for $45 for only 9 holes? I won't be back, ever.

I think this is the best public golf course in Western NY, and I have played many of them over the past 50 years. I played it in late July of 08, about a year after it opened. the fairways are manicured, the rough is reasonable, and the greens are large, fast, with undulations, and in excellent condition. The layout is interesting, the staff and friendly and the hot dogs are classic Sahlens for only $2 with chips. The have a regular range and an excellent short game range with practice sand traps. And you can walk if you want.

I have a slightly different opinion than the two previous reviews. I think that this is nothing special. It is very similar to other new courses that have been developed in Western Ny, such as Diamond Hawk and Ivy Ridge. It is in better shape than both of those courses, but I do not consider the layout anything better. Also some of the yardages are questionable. The second hole is a 500+ yard par 5. I hit a driver off of the heal and only had 190 yards left. Then I didnt feel as if my approach looked like 190 yards so I hit a 7 iron and hit it over the green. I dont hit pure drives 310 yards, and i dont hit 7 irons "200 yards". There were other examples of questionable yardage as well.
I did enjoy the occasional uphill approach shot into various greens. The par threes are rather weak in my opinion.

One of the nicest non-private courses in the area. Exceptionally maintained, fun layout. It is definitely going to be much better/harder in a few years when the course grows in (and the ponds fill up). Some of the heather is not too thick so you can actually play out of it. Practice range is huge with all grass tees. Definitely want to play here again soon.

Finally a country club quality course for us regular guys. Fairways are beautiful - the rough is nice & thick however not too wide before you find yourself in the 'heather' where you'll lose your ball but find 2 others. Sand is soft & powdery. Great layout. You won't necessarily want to use your driver every hole either! Course workers unload your car as you pull up and they even have a courtesy cart on the course if you need a water or soda! Clubhouse to be built this winter - where you can view the Buffalo skyline - what a great place - well worth the wait.
