Pretty rough but cheap. Girls in bar area could use some manners.
Probably will not return.

Good Course overall, I usually play there 2-3 times a year. It is a good deal on weekdays too. They seem to be doing a little work over the last few years too. The carts there do suck though. But if it keeps it cheap that is fine with me.

This is the second straight year we have traveled to upstate NY to play golf. Afton is, and remains one of our favorite stops. The weekday price is awesome and the course provides enough challenge to keep us interested.

This place is kinda rough, like a cow path on some of the cart paths, not like the courses around Binghamton. Could use in upgrade in the proshop and bar area. Overall, not very impressed. Will try again later in the summer.

I love the Afton Golf Course. I can't tell you how many courses I've been to, but something about this family-run place--I put it at the top of my list. I've taken lessons there with the PGA pro and subsequently have greatly improved my game. Their club house feels like a good old Scottish clubhouse. Can't wait to play there again.

Easy course, wide open. No work done on fairways or greens in years, always hard or dead, fairways and tees are clover, could be a very nice course if work was done. OK value for your money, $27 18 holes and cart and lunch or breakfast.

Afton Golf Club

I'm a local who has played Afton many times. I like Afton because it's cheap, fairly well maintained (except for the golf carts), and a real confidence booster. There's almost no trouble to the right on this golf course. I'm generally not a slicer, but for those who are, take comfort in the fact that you'll usually just be playing from another fairway. The layout is fairly competent and flows smoothly. There are a few holes that seem kind of jammed in (numbers 4,5 and 6 come to mind) but again; it gives you a real ego boost to be 30 yards out from a green on a par 4 with your tee shot (the big hitters can even drive them). There isn't a whole lot of sand or water to be found-only 3 ponds and a smattering of bunkers. There isn't much of a "pro-shop" in the clubhouse either-just a counter with golf balls, divot tools, etc., but they do have a full service bar and grille. Check out their breakfast special for 18 with a cart! And that brings us back to carts.......I would have given Afton a higher mark on maintenance, but their carts look like they were conscripted from an Al-Quaeda salvage yard. I played a round on 03/30/07 and had two separate carts crap out on on the front and one on the back. Maybe that's how they manage to keep it so cheap here, but I'd rather pay a couple extra bucks for quality transportation. In their defense, they did try to make it right by comping us a few drinks. All in all, Afton is a decent place to play.

Excellent Course

Afton is a very well-kept and maintained course. The clubhouse is very nice offering great food and a nice shop. I would recommend this course to everyone from pros to newbies alike. It really is a high quality course and something that if you're in the area, you should visit. The back 9 are more fun than the front 9 in my opinion but all 18 holes are nicely done.
