I had not played this course in 10 years and now I know why.there was very little grass to speak of and it appeared as if they never aerated the grass to allow for the roots to grow.the greens had grass,way too slow and inconsistent.the staff was very layed back and it seemed nobody was in control except to take your greens fee.i may come back in another 10 years when I forget how bad it actually was but for now there are way too many better courses out there to play.
This is a very good golf course for the price. The track was in good shape the entire year and well worth the greens fee. This course will challenge you off the tees with several narrow tree lined fairways. Great place for a relaxing round of golf. Not sure about others that complain about laying up, not the fault of the layout if they cannot manage the course. It is supposed to be a challenge hit a Par 5 green in two shots. I can do it and I am not a low handicapper. It is not Trump National, but it is a good value for the price.
Pinelands, as its name suggests, is located right in the heart of the pinelands of New Jersey. Naturally, the scenery was very nice and the course has a remote and hidden feel to it. The course itself was generally nice. The maintainance was good, the greens quite a bit slow, but fair and the holes were fairly wide open. In fact, I don't think I lost a single ball. There weren't really any unique holes to speak of except for the 6th which ironically or not is the only hole with water on it. The pricing was fair but not great. ($23 to walk twilight weekend). My biggest issue is that they don't carry logo balls which I collect from every course I play...BOOOO. Huge disappointment. Overall rating B-.
This is a great course if you love a ridiculously miserable layout, dispicable course conditions, and greens that roll about -3 on the stimpmeter. Similar to shag carpet. The staff so rude, you would think you punched their mother's in the face. I can almost say that it is positive that the course is cheap, but even though it is only $30, you would be better served to go buy four large buckets of balls at your local driving range and work on your game. Playing here will only make you worse. If you get a coupon in the mail that the course is paying people $40 to play, I would still suggest that you save yourself the aggravation.
This course was a disgrace. They should be embarrassed to call that place a golf course. I don't know what they are paying the head greenskeeper but a dollar is way too much. If you are even considering going there, don't waste your time or money. The only positive feedbacks on this dump obviously came from the staff that works there.
Great course for the price. Bad thing is the greens keepers need to learn a little customer service from the pro shop.If you want golfer to stay on the paths you have to have paths for them to drive on.
