Brevofield is essentially a municipal golf course. It doesn't have a real club house. It doesn't have a driving range. It doesn't use a starter. If you show up with cash or a working credit card, you can head on out to play. It's a very short course that brings out the high handicappers, so be prepared for a long round, too.

The other bad parts of Brevofield: it has several parallel holes that are bothersome; it has two par fours that can be driven with 5 woods from the tips; a par 5 that's nothing more than driver/9-iron; and the greens are tall, thick and slow. Really slow.

On the plus side ... uh ... well, it's a hacker's paradise. Let's just leave it at that.

The course was nice, no driving range, and NO STARTER. We showed up at 7:45 for an 8:15 tee time and there were 8 groups of 4 at #1. We asked why all the people at start and we were told "they showed up and paid, do you want to play or not?" Very disappointed! Will not go back!

Nice Course !! Greens while not fast are always in great shape. The front nine is a links style course, with the back nine a more traditional style through some beautiful North Carolina Pine trees. The club house is not what it should be for a course of this caliber.

All I can say is that nobody would ever get me to play here again unless they paid me. Greens were frustratingly slow, as was the pace of play.

Low end course; not expensive; if you go at the wrong time of day the lines can be very long to get on.

Played Brevofield for the first time yesterday, 18 with a cart. Great value for the money ($23.00). Lots of uphill fairways with at least three hidden flags. Perfect greens -- like carpet. Pace of play was well maintained by the difficulty of the course. I shot a big ol' 97 (not bad for this beginning duffer). Would like to return soon.

Good and Bad

The Brevofield golf course is fun and easy to play; however, I believe it leaves a lot to be desired. The first hole has a bad irrigation problem leaving ground really saturated and there is no real difficulty throughout the course. During your play, you will find yourself double backing into the line of fire of other golfers. I had several golf balls come within 20 feet with no warning. On weekend play, the course is crowded with golfers which can create some frustration because tee times are not managed very well. I strongly recommend this course have a marshal to manage weekend play. I thought the cost of weekend play was kind of pricey because the overall quality is just not there compared to other courses at the same price.
