Great course for the money. The staff is always friendly. The course has no bunkers and is pretty straight forward. Don't let that fool you there are still some difficult shots on this course. The course has been well maintained both times I have played it. 17# green was in ruff shape last time we played the course but it had been extremely wet. The back 9 are some of the most fun holes I have found in the area. If you only have time for 9 holes I would highly recommend playing them. You will use every club in your bag.

Dec. 27, 2008 Things have changed. Old #4 is now #1. The greens have received a good deal of work. They will hold an approach if struck correctly. I played nine holes every Tuesday afternoon from May thru end of Aug. '08. The course is fine. The greens will hold and putt very smooth. The greens are small ,but, should be for a short
course. Visual ammenities have received work and looks nice. The price is right and the staff is friendly and helpful. I recommend it.

Concrete? whatever. The course here is much better than some of the other courses. It is a bit tight for me as I have a slicing problem. The course is rather challenging to me. Some of the seasoned golfers my not think so, but it has some good dog legs and greens are a real challenge to me as my short game needs improvement too. As for the 45 degree angle on the 3rd hole. Whatever you can take an 8 iron and lay it right on the green from the tee box. I've only been playing since may of this year but and easy enough hole for me.

Do you like to play golf?

Mc Canless offers a golfer the small town friendliness, a golf professional who knows what he talking about and does not overload a student with theory. One can simply ask to improve the skills one has and then he helps you improve them. The cost of membership is most reasonable and new members, guests or the occasional player are welcomed by members and regulars who never met a stranger. I have never played a round of golf there and no matter what my score was, I always drove home having enjoyed myself. I have yet to meet a member or non member who thought they put their pants on two legs at a time. Those folks destroy the enjoyment you can achieve with a round of golf.

Another Value Course

I admit that it is difficult to pay more than $30 for a round of golf. So I do play the value courses. Since my home is here in Salisbury, value choices abound. MaCandless is better than Rolling Hills, and Crecent. The staff was nice I had a discount round so I was playing for a low rate. It is well worth the money and is great short course that if you are looking for a value with decent golf course then play here.

goat track

tee boxes and greens are about the same short game is fine, i just like the idea of flying a shot in from 160yds, having it hit the green and stick. if you like having to hit the ball 10 yards short and have it roll on the front of the green then this is your course.

Good value for the area

The course has been around for more than 60 years. It has really made some improvements over the last few years and it is in good shape. The greens are smooth and the fairways are nice too. The best thing that I liked was the people in the clubhouse- really nice!

Okay, but could be better.

It reminds me of a cow pasture. The third green is slanted at a 45 degree angle and most greens are like concrete.
