Oak Hills Golf Club, Eden, NC

The Oak Hills Golf Course in Eden, North Carolina has been a top-notch public course since it opened in 1958. Recent renovations to the course have made it even better.

The course – formerly known as Meadows Green – was designed by Ellis Maples, a Donald Ross protégé. Rolling fairways and countless bunkers are beautifully incorporated into the natural setting of mature pine and maple trees.

At 6,449 yards, the course isn't overwhelming distance-wise and you can certainly score well if you keep the ball in the fairways. There are just three par-5 holes on the par-71 course, one being the first hole, a 481-yard challenge right out of the gate.

The greens have seen the most challenges recently and they are fantastic. Now the greens feature TifEagle bermudagrass, a type of grass developed specifically for golf greens. The greens are pristine and provide true speed control. Shots to the green stick as they should and breaks play true.

Other renovations include the addition of new forward tee boxes and resurfaced cart paths. Both changes make the course even more enjoyable to play.

In addition to the course, the golf club offers a driving range and putting green for practice before your round. Also on site is Santana's, a fun restaurant that offers Mexican and American cuisine. The restaurant has great views of the course and is open for lunch and dinner.

The staff at Oak Hills is friendly and accommodating from the pro shop to the clubhouse. They are happy to offer tips before you start your round.

One of the most pleasant surprises is the price. Play 18 holes with a cart for just $25 during the week and $35 on the weekend. Oak Hills Golf Course is an excellent value and an enjoyable course for golfers of all abilities.
