Played here twice on my honeymoon. The staff is awesome. They were all friendly, and there was none of the all-too-common attitude one gets from a lot of pro shop employees. Joe at the starter station was particularly cool, and even gave me a lift back to the hotel with my clubs at the end of my round. The course is on the shorter side, which is somewhat counteracted by the trade winds you'll be up against. But that said, consider the blue tees if you're normally someone who plays from the whites. I found it hard to hit driver on several holes (I'm not a very long hitter...220-240 off the tee). Great, scenic, Robert Trent Jones Jr. course that made me want to come back and play again (which I did, and scored way better once I figured out what I was looking at the first time I played it). My wife and I also played the Makai course up in Princeville, and found the Poipu Bay course to have a lot more character. The personalized bag tags waiting for us at the end of our round at Poipu Bay were a really nice touch, too. My only criticism is that the practice facility closes EARLY...4:30 PM...and they want everyone off the course by 6:30, which makes twilight play tough. Also, the greens had just been aerated and were true, but really slow. I left so many puts 4 feet short it tested my putter! Great course, not too tough, killer ocean views. A perfect vacation course!
