Apparently the snow birds had left the area and the forecast was not the best. We had smooth sailing through the entire course. From the people at the proshop to the refreshment cart person, everyone worked to make certain golfers had an enjoyable experience. They even recommended a great local restaurant for dinner. The course was in excellent shape. There is a fence around the course and a residential area borders a couple of fairways, but I soon forgot about that while playing some beautiful holes. We had a wonderful time. It seems that all of the public South Florida courses suffer when the population explodes in the winter. Play this one now.
I am definitely proud and happy to say that this is my home course. The value is unbeatable. I normally play it in the summer only because it can get over crowded with snow birds. The summer rates are 20 dollars tuesdays and thursdays! ya really. The course is meticulously maintained. I often find myself feeling "out" in the wilderness when i get deep into the course. I recommend this course to every golfer I know and don't know.
I played this course a while back. When they say it's nothing to write home about they are serious. The course is okay, but it's like a big park with chain link fence all the way around. First hole runs along a main neighborhood street with the driveways and homes on the other side. Chain link all the way down. I guess it wasn't terrible, and in the off season the price is reasonable. It was in decent shape, but too many better alternatives for close to the same price.
We played there a few weeks after the recent cold weather and they apparently couldn't find the time to scrape all the very large dead iguanas off the course. There were rotting 4 foot long iguanas in the water hazards and around the edge of the fairways. To boot, they over booked the course so we had to wait a minimum of 10 minutes at each tee box. We gave up after it took 4 hours to play 9 holes. The ranger could care less about our experience and knew they overbooked. I'll never waste $50 at this dump again.
Nice place to play. Reasonably priced. No driving range. Not many hazards, but they are very well placed and almost always come into play. Need to think a bit more on this course than others in it's category.
