Very rude staff that thinks the course is a 5 star facility. Will not go back

First course I actually played in Colorado. Well it was a very well maintained course. Its a bit challenging for me since I don't play often. The only thing that I could say that really bothered me was the pushy marshal on the course. They were surveying the course for the Colorado Open so they were holding us up while the marshal was giving us a hard time about playing so slowly. The day we decided to go wasn't a weekend or anything, so they shouldn't have a problem with us playing slower. We finally played through. I guess with my personality its easy to ignore rude people. But all in all, a fun day. I would recommend this course to anyone. The clubhouse staff is also very helpful.

Green Valley Ranch is the perfect example of a good course with poor management. This Perry Dye course is consistent with another Perry Dye course I've played (Auburn Hills in Wichita, Kansas) in that he preserves much of the natural habitat and utilizes natural terrain with strategically placed water hazards to make the course challanging. I enjoyed the course, but what I didn't enjoy was the pace of play. We teed off at 8:30 and at 1pm (yes, 4 and a half hours) later we had just finished 15 holes. Normally I would just write this off as a slow day, but we were playing with a local that assured us this was pretty much standard pace of play. He always allows 5 to 6 hours when he plays this course. We didn't see a marshal until hole 14 and when I asked what the hold up was he just shrugged his shoulders and said "play is slow" (like I hadn't noticed). We finally gave up headed in and found the culprits were a threesome on 17 - with 18 wide open. The range marshal took absolutely no action to speed up pace of play. I'd love to play this course again, hopefully they will address the pace of play issue.

This course winds through wild and protected Colorado prarie wetlands. We saw a mother deer and fawn along one fairway. One of the ultimate examples of high plains prarie golf - impassable wet areas, clear running creeks among shoulder-high natural grasses and a few scattered stately cottonwood trees. Many shots must carry the wetlands, and most shots must avoid them. Can't really say that it is tight, the fairways have ample room if you are driving the ball decently, but a stray shot will cost you dearly. Hard to shoot your handicap here, unless you are either having a great day or you have played it enough to gain some local knowledge. Beautifully sculpted fairways and greens that sit right into the landscape. Perfectly maintained and great facility, full GPS in the cart.

It's a challange!

GVRGC could be the most challenging course I have played. You must keep the ball in play or pay penalty strokes. Shot making ability a must. Not a course to grip it and rip it. Very fast greens that can lead you to 3 putt in a blink.

Miss the fairway or rough and 95% of time, lose your ball. One guy in group was down to 3 balls of an 18 pack by the 14th hole. Note, the GPS system is ok, but found walking off yardage more accurate.
If you want a challange, this is the course to play.

Great Golf Course!!

I've played a couple of rounds here, I love the lay out of the course and the challenging 18 holes. The sights this course can offer are sometimes breath taking. If your looking for a great round of golf, full of great sights and beatiuful greens, I highly recommend Green Valley Ranch.
