SWCC is really two distinct courses. The shorter, front side places a premium on accuracy off the tee. The first hole is a tough dogleg right, uphill par 5. The third hole is an uphill par 3 with a green that can hold impossible pin placements. There are elevated tee boxes and several close to "blind" tee shots onthe front side. Three par 3s are unique, calling for great accuracy. There are strategically places f/w traps, several with lips. Trees come into play on holes 6-9. The par 3 ninth hole is short but very penal. A creek borders several holes and can catch shots. The backside is PGA length 3600+ yards, calling for too many driver-3 wood, wedge combinations. Its hilly and has some blind shots to greens. All holes have greenside bunkering and a creek running alongside and across several holes. The club added ponds to holes 15, 16 and 18 some years ago which requires some concentration. Most backside fairways are wide and foregiving, with few trees to impede golfers. The backside is rather boring and could use some more bunkering/moguls to draw out golfer's skills. The clubhouse is showing its age. This is a good value for equity owners and a new management team is in place which should help. Maintenance could be improved. Sand was heavy and many fairways were very inconsistent. Greens roll true and were smooth when we played. There is OB on all holes, however, the fairways are wide and it should not come into play. Gets windy in the afternoons, an aid on the backside as holes 14-18 play downwind. Bombers love it! Friendly staff, good pro.
