This is a beautiful course, but I find it a bit overrated, mainly because of pace of play. I've been at times that should be quiet, like late weekday mornings, and still it's usually 5+ hours. You have to be very good to keep your ball in play consistently, and there's nothing wrong with a course being difficult, but it makes for a slow round when half the people on the course are constantly hiking around looking for golf balls. They call everything a lateral hazard instead of OB, but even that doesn't help much. The par-5s are long and can be three-shot holes even for big hitters if the wind is unfavorable. I've had some good rounds here (and some bad), but I play only rarely because the slowness gets so frustrating. The staff are polite, though, and the carts have individual coolers and club/ball washers, which is fun.

I played Oak Quarry yesterday. It lived up to the reviews. Equal to any of the great resort courses I've played. The clubhouse is OK, nothing to write home about. The course is very fun with lots of unique and interesting holes. I played to my level from the white tees and enjoyed every minute. A player who joined me insisted on playing from the tips and spent many minutes looking for lost balls. His score was well over 100 and he struggled throughout the round. My experience was terrific. I'll come back there soon and bring my friends.

I love this course!!! Need more discounts! Want to play this more! Would give more stars on amenities but there is no real food shack at the turn. One of the must play courses in IE. Just do it once, you'll get hooked!
