We just became members last November and we could not be happier, we made the right decision, family friendly and excellent service. I cannot give anything but compliments to the staff! Excellent service and super friendly. We believe they handled the difficult pandemic situation perfectly! Always accommodating, and keeping us informed. Thank you!

We are new members but there are already too many "main reasons": the facilities are amazing, food is great, but I'd guess I pick the staff as #1 reason(every person provides genuine top notch service)!

The course is very, very good, but I agree it's not one that you'll fall in love with. The 3 holes built into the mountain are at least memorable and scenic. The course is always in great shape, but many of the holes look the same and even though I've played it several times a year for years now, many of the holes just don't stand out and blend together. The clubhouse and facilities are fantastic though and you couldn't ask for a better staff.

I agree with Turferrw to some degree- this is not an "average" golf course. It is in a great location and has a wonderful piece of land at the base of the McDowells. The design is better than average for all Phoenix courses, but is certainly less compelling than that of many neighboring private clubs. The two par 4s on the side of the mountain are awful, especially the downhill hole where shots to the right side of the fairway bound into the desert and shots to the left side funnel into a gaping bunker. The par 3 at the top, though very nice in concept, has some of the most cheesy and fake-looking "rock" around the green. When you have beautiful natural terrain surrounding the hole why would you put in man-made features like that? The rest of the holes vary between ok and decent... only a couple really stand out in my mind as being very interesting. I do enjoy the long par 4 right after the "on mountain" fiasco holes- that hole requires two great shots and takes some strategic thinking to score well.
I completely disagree with Turferrw about the conditions- I have played here perhaps 5 times and every time the fairways have been soggy and over-watered (during one recent visit the sprinklers popped up on my group a couple times and drenched us- this is mid-day). The greens are also soaked, and always seem to be heavily sanded and recently punched. Maybe my timing has been bad... The membership should consider throttling back the amount of water used, and shoot for "harder and faster" conditions.
The practice area is good, with a good driving range and a passable putting green and short game area.
The clubhouse is top notch, with an excellent "rustic western" feel. The mens locker room is awesome, with a very nice grill in which to relax after the round.
The staff is among the best in the Valley- professional, courteous and helpful. Kudos to the head golf professional! I was impressed by the young "club cleaners" who refuse tips- "we are a no tipping club". Classy!
I have always heard underwhelming reports about the golf course, but was reasonably happy when I first played here. Notwithstanding the "hill holes", the course overall is a fun play and challenges you with some interesting blind shots and angled fairways.
So overall the golf course is decent but nowhere near the top private N Scottsdale courses. As a club, with the great location, facilities and staff, it is probably a fantastic place to be a member.
