This was such a beautiful course and place for the whole family to go but has gone downhill in a hurry over the last 2 years. Course is in sad shape, ponds are stagnate, weeds have taken over, employees are unfocused on their jobs, lounge never open, grill food is awful, tastes bad and soured, rooms are dirty, whole clubhouse could stand a good scrubbing, course restrooms need to be cleaned, no water on the course, sand traps are hard as rocks. Once again, Dawn Hill has been turned back over to Luther due to the fact it was not realized just how much time, $$$, effort and caring Dawn Hill needs. Members are non-existent which was/is Dawn Hill's life. Groups have cancelled. The course is in horrible shape which should have never happened. Will the place ever be like it once was? No, I don't think so unless a miracle happens.

I used to enjoy golfing here years ago, but as of late I can't see myself going back any time soon. Ponds look like cesspools, only 1 or 2 greens have any trace of green on them, no water stations, lost nearly a dozen balls...in the fairways. There were windrows in the sparsely mowed grass, and the price is no lower than any other decent course around. Don't waste your time or money going to this place expecting to play a round of golf...bring a goat or cow to give the crew a hand in groundskeeping.

iabanker

Played in a 28 man 4 day outing the end of June. Nice layout but the condition couldn't have been worse. No grass on tees. No fringe at all(just mud) Makes for challenging chips. Ended up having to putt from anywhere inside of 20' of the green. Clubhouse staff very cordial and food and drink were very good.

give it time

i really believe that by next summer, this course will be looking great. it is always hard redoing a course with limited funds. the greens are coming along and will be good by late spring. i'd check it out.

Relaxing Release

I'm a local to the Thunderbird Golf Coarse. As a member, I have enjoyed many relaxing games on this newly remodeled coarse. The greens are coming along nicely, the employees are great - always helpful and friendly. You usually have plenty of time to relax and release from the tensions of work. That's what I call a good golf game, and this is a good place to do just that.

Poor re-design, not maintained

Two temporary greens, and we were in a tournament! What a disaster. If this course was a horse it would be shot. The condos have carpeting from the 70's. Our front door would not close. One of our friend's roof leaked. The redesign is abismal, with much smaller greens, that were not mowed. But that was OK, the fairways and rough were not mowed either. Pin placements and tees were not moved in our three days there. Beware, and take your money
elsewhere!!

Dawn Hill (Thunderbird Golf Course)

This is an old course with new owners. The course was closed for a while, so it needed a lot of work. The current owners are doing a wonderful job of restoring a historically nice course. The greens fees after 3:30 drop to $15 with a cart for 18 holes. That's the best value I've ever seen for 18 quality holes. The greens are still a little rough, but they are coming around. They have all been reworked since the course was reopened. I would strongly suggest giving this course a try. The restaraunt is wonderful too.
