PXG Xtreme Tour X is a 3-piece urethane ball made for faster swing speed players who want distance off the tee and higher spin than its sibling, Xtreme Tour, everywhere else.

Of course it’s not the first ball to target that lane, but it does cost some $18 less than current premium balls from the legacy brands, so we put it to the test. Find out where it hit the mark, and where it comes up short.

How We Tested the PXG Xtreme Tour X

We put the PXG Xtreme Tour X through our published golf ball testing protocols using the SkyTrak ST Max launch monitor. That means human swings under strict bands for swing speed, impact quality, and delivery dynamics.

To see performance from tee to green, we test driver, 7-iron, and 50-yard wedge shots with each ball.

We tested 43 golf balls in total for 2026 then translated the raw data into 1-10 scores in the categories that matter most to your game. That lets you easily see how each ball stacks up to the field.

Let’s start with the number that matters most: 139.1 mph ball speed off the driver, the third-fastest of any ball in our entire 43-ball test. That didn’t translate directly into distance in our test, but we’ll explain why it will for a lot of golfers shortly.

The tradeoff shows up in our accuracy data. The Xtreme Tour X is PXG's higher-spin urethane ball (compared to the Xtreme Tour), which naturally makes it more prone to sidespin. Despite that, the offline dispersion numbers were actually tight, but the sidespin readings were on the higher side.

Xtreme Tour X's 139.1 mph ball speed is the third-fastest of any ball we tested. It totaled 243.3 yards in our testing, a strong, top-third number despite a low 12.8-degree launch angle that prevented it from reaching its true distance potential.

Most golfers won’t have a problem launching it closer to an optimal window, and once you do that, there's a good case you'll see noticeably more distance per mph of swing speed than we did here.

Stopping Power: 7.2/10

Stopping power is about what you'd expect from a ball built for speed first. It’s not going to hurt you in that department, but it’s not going out of its way to help you out a ton either.

Approach shots landed at a 41-degree angle and released 10.9 yards after landing. That’s right in line with what most of the field did. It won't check up on the green like a Pro V1 or Chrome Tour X, but it's not going to run through it on you. For a ball designed to go far, that's a fair trade.

Wedge Control: 8.1/10

From 50 yards, Xtreme Tour X's mid-launch, mid-spin combination (6,461 RPM, 31.8-degree launch) produced 3.0 yards of roll. In isolation that sounds fine, but at the end of the day, it’s behind a large grouping of balls that produced over 7,000 RPM of spin from 50 yards and rolled out less than 2.5 yards. The gap isn’t huge – less than two feet of roll out – but there are more than a dozen balls in our test that offer that edge around the green.

Accuracy: 6.4/10

PXG Xtreme Tour X's average offline dispersion was tight — 6.5 yards offline the driver and just 1.0 yard with the 7-iron — but it wasn’t because Xtreme Tour X fights sidespin. It produced an average 324.5 RPM of sidespin off the driver, which pulled the overall accuracy score down.

If you’re really looking for an accurate ball, you want one that resists sidespin, not just one that can be shaped into the target. But if you’re shopping for an X ball, the ability to hit controlled draws and fades might be preferable to a ball that holds its line, and that’s what PXG Xtreme Tour X did.

Value: 6.9/10

At $39/dozen, Xtreme Tour X sits in the middle of the market. It’s cheaper than most flagship tour balls but pricier than the most popular DTC brands.

The high distance ceiling is the main thing you're paying for, without giving up too much from wedge control and stopping power.

Who Is the PXG Xtreme Tour X For?

Xtreme Tour X is built for faster-swing-speed players who want distance first.

If stopping on a dime matters more to you than distance, weigh the caveats above before you commit. But if you're chasing distance, want a workable ball, and can live with average stopping power into and around the green,, this ball delivers on its core promise.
