Mizuno Golf Club Review
Specs

Mizuno's MP-57 iron features: Grain Flow Forging; 1025E pure select mild carbon steel to provide great feel; Durable double nickel chrome Finish; A Cut Muscle design provides the ideal center of gravity location for optimum trajectory, ball control and solid feel; Rolled Leading and Trailing Sole Edges and cambered mid-sole for easy escapes from all lies; Modified U-Grooves produce the ideal spin rate in all conditions; Full cavity for increased forgiveness and slightly higher ball flight, with a reinforced muscle pad for enhanced feel; Available 3-PW

Perks

This is Mizuno's first MP model with a full cavity. The cavity adds a much larger sweet spot than other MP models and a higher ball flight. This iron is more forgiving than other MP models and will appeal to a larger audience. The MP-57 glides through the turf easier than other MP models which always seemed to dig into the turf. HOwever, it still has the beautiful look of a Mizuno MP iron.

Sacrifices

Although other MP models are more difficult to hit, when you hit them pure, no club offers a sweeter feel or sound. The MP-57 still feels and sounds good, but the off-center hits do not offer the feedback typical with cavity back club this feedback is produced by other models. Working the ball is more difficult with MP-57 compared to other MP models.

Bottom Line

If you have been wanting to step up to "player's clubs", but are hesitant, this is a great model to play. The MP-57 looks and sets up beautifully and inspires confidence. Most appropriate for single digit handicappers.

Golf Equipment Tip of the Day

Using Frequency to Test the Flex of Your Shafts
by Jeff Jackson
What's the flex of your shafts? At one time, a golfer could safely answer that his or her shafts were stiff, regular or ladies flex. That simply isn't the case any longer. Most manufacturers have their own method of shaft measurement. What this means is that one company's "R" flex shaft may actually be softer than another's "A" or even "L" flex. How, then, can a golfer select the appropriate shaft if no manufacturing standard exists? In a word: frequency.
