How to Make a Yamaha Golf Cart Faster

About the only difference between walking a course and using a cart is the toll that walking takes on your legs.You really don't make up much in the way of time when you consider that your average golf cart goes somewhere between 12 and 15 miles per hour. Actually, golf carts do make quite a difference even at their dogged speeds but there's a way you can put even more horsepower behind that golf cart and make getting around the course even faster: remove the governor.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Locate the governor. You'll need to find the governor in order to be able to follow the straw-sized cable down to the carburetor. Because the governor has cables from both the carburetor and the gas pedal, it's best to find the cable that runs between the governor and the carburetor first.
Disconnect the cable that runs between the governor and the carburetor. This cable is now unnecessary. You can throw it away or save it for extra parts.
Follow the cable that runs from the gas pedal to the governor. You'll also need to disconnect this cable from the governor.
Attach the gas pedal cable to the carburetor. You've now eliminated the governor from your golf cart's power supply.
Use your wrench to adjust the gas pedal shaft. To do this you'll need to loosen the bolt on the shaft and raise the gas pedal up. Tighten the bolt and then check the power supply. You may need to readjust the pedal shaft depending on how the cart performs at this point.
