The Venn diagram of golfers who listen to music on the course, and those who like to drink alcohol while they play may not be an exact circle, but for those who do fall in the middle, you only need one accessory to enjoy both: the VSSL Insulated Flask with Bluetooth Speaker.

We took this speaker flask to the course to test out all of its functions and figure out who really needs to add this multi-tasking accessory to their bag. Check out our complete review.

VSSL Insulated Flask + Bluetooth Speaker Review

There’s a lot to test with the VSSL Insulated Flask + Bluetooth Speaker. I had to test the flask’s insulation, the speaker’s quality, and the overall functionality of the product. Here’s how each of these features performed.

Insulated Flask Performance: 4/5

I teased the Venn diagram of music-playing, liquor-drinking golfers earlier, but the truth is you don’t have to pack this VSSL Flask with liquor to make use of it. In fact, when I first tested it, I didn’t.

Instead, I took advantage of its ability to keep drinks hot. Before I headed to the course, I filled the 8 oz chamber with hot coffee and tossed it in my golf bag. I then made the 30-minute drive to the golf course, checked in, warmed up, walked most of the front nine, then pulled out the flask as I trekked to my tee shot on the ninth hole.

Much to my delight, about 2.5 hours after filling the VSSL Flask with coffee, it was still pleasantly warm. Not hot enough to risk burning my tongue, but definitely warm enough to be enjoyable. I do, however, doubt that this flask would keep a drink warm for five full hours.

Speaker Performance: 5/5

The speaker is only two inches in diameter, but if you heard the sound from another room — or from a fairway away — you’d think it’s much bigger. This unit as a whole is pretty impressive, but I must say, the sound quality and volume is easily its most impressive trait.

When I first saw the speaker flask, I assumed it was more flask than speaker, and that the sound would be pretty elementary, but I was dead wrong. It seriously kicks.

Functionality: 4/5

After testing both the flask and the speaker, there’s no denying that the VSSL Insulated Flask + Bluetooth Speaker is high-end all the way around. However, I still had to question the overall functionality of the unit.

I play a lot of golf, and even off the course, I spend a lot of time outdoors listening to music. I also drink a lot of coffee, and don’t mind throwing back some whiskey here and there as well. Still, the idea of needing a Bluetooth speaker that doubles as a flask never crossed my mind. There’s no doubt it’s a great idea, and this VSSL unit does everything very well, but I’m just not sure that it solves a problem that most people – even outdoorsy, boozy, music-loving people – need solved.

I also have to point out the fact that adding an attention-grabbing speaker to a flask can be counter-productive, given that one of the main purposes of a flask is to discreetly carry alcohol.

With that said, however, if you are in search of a single unit to pack your whole party into, you will not be disappointed in this VSSL Flask + Bluetooth Speaker.

On top of that, if you’re searching for the perfect gift, anyone who likes to take their music and drinks on the go would appreciate opening up one of these units.

A few more details on the functionality. The top features a built-in carabiner, which is super convenient for clipping this to your golf bag, backpack, or anything else. And speaking of that top, in addition to a screw-off drink spout, the top itself is also fully removable top, making the flask a breeze to fill and to clean.

The only functional issue I had with this flask was that the silver ring that connects the flask to the speaker became loose from the flask, and actually completely fell off the bottom a couple times. To solve this, I placed the ring back in place, threw a towel over it, and lightly tapped it back in place with a mallet, which so far has done the trick.

From top to bottom, the design of this VSSL unit is clever, high-end, and really well executed.

VSSL Insulated Flask + Bluetooth Speaker Pros & Cons

From its impressive sound to the quality flask, and convenience, the unit itself is flawless. However, it may not be for everyone. Here’s my complete list of pros and cons of the VSSL Insulated Flask + Bluetooth Speaker.

Pros:

  • Unbelievably high-quality sound for its size, and considering it’s also a flask
  • The flask is great for booze or coffee and keeps coffee warm for up to 3 hours
  • Great size for versatility: it clips to golf a bag and fits easily into almost any bag pocket
  • Awesome for other outdoor occasions: campfire, hike, beach, etc.
  • Great gift
  • Quickly connects via Bluetooth with no frustration
  • Easy to fill and clean thanks to the removable top

Cons:

  • Adding a speaker to a flask is not a discreet way to sneak your alcohol around
  • The cylindrical shape of the flask makes it hard to keep on you without some sort of bag
  • The ring that joins the speaker to the bottom of the flask may come loose

The Final Verdict

The VSSL Insulated Flask + Bluetooth Speaker is a high-quality insulated flask, and a high-quality speaker. On top of that, its super convenient to fill, hook to your bag, and clean. If that’s exactly what you’re looking for, you’ll love this. Or, if you’re shopping for someone who spends a lot of time outdoors listening to music, and enjoys smuggling liquor, this should be high on your gift list.
