In our testing, the Tommy Armour putter excelled in distance control, which is crucial to not only making more putts, but avoiding those deflating 3-putts. For whatever reason, it was easy to just pick up this putter and roll the ball the right distance.

The CNC milled face insert gives the Impact line of Tommy Armour putters a high-end finish at a budget price, and adds to what we found to be a true and consistent roll.

The Impact line of Tommy Armour putters are very forgiving. We doinked a few off the heel and toe to put this to the test. Those putts held their line nicely, and a little distance loss was the only damage done.

The Impact line offers four head shapes, a traditional blade, the No. 1, a wide blade (No. 2), a fang-style mallet (No. 3), and the Women’s Mallet edition (No. 4).

No matter which you choose, you can snag one for $119, about a $30 savings over the lowest-priced putters from the major OEMs.

While we love the value of a putter that performs this good at $119, brands like Cleveland, Odyssey and Cobra offer putters starting at $149, which could lure some golfers away from the Tommy Armour line.

While there’s a lot to like about the Tommy Armour Impact putters, there were a couple things we felt could be better. The most noticeable was the feel at impact. While the Impact putter has a premium look, the feel was less than premium. For comparison, we tested the Impact putter side-by-side with a premium putter from a major OEM. When compared to its more premium counterpart, Impact (no pun intended) was clicky and louder than we prefer.

Our other knock on the Impact putter is small, literally and figuratively. The subtle white alignment dot on the putter head brings a clean aesthetic, but it isn’t the most helpful for players who get extra confidence from using a more robust alignment aid.

The Bottom Line

The Tommy Armour Impact line of putters has a lot to offer golfers who want a quality putter that performs admirably at a great price.

With four models within the line, and a variety of head shapes, hosels and stroke profiles, there really is an Impact putter for pretty much every player.

Golfers who demand a premium feel from their putter will likely be unsatisfied in that area with the Impact putter, but those players are typically willing to pay a premium price for their high demands.

For golfers shopping for a great putter on a budget, the Tommy Armour Impact line is a great option.
