Gifts for Golf Lovers

By Steve Silverman

The game of golf presents a great opportunity for gift giving. If you have a family member or a close friend who loves golf, you might want to buy a gift that is both useful and fun on the golf course. It does not have to be anything expensive or exorbitant. Don't even think of buying a golf club for anybody else, even to replace a lost or destroyed club. That's for the golfer to buy. However, gifts such as golf balls, golf clothes and greens fees gift certificates can be fun and useful.

Golf balls

These are probably the best things to buy for any golfer. Most golfers who play three or four times per week during golf season probably go through several dozen balls in a golf season. Sometimes the balls will get lost in the woods or water, and balls get beaten up and cut after quite a bit of use. Buy a dozen or two golf balls for your golfing friend for a gift that will be truly appreciated.

Golf clothes

Many golf courses have dress codes. No, the golfer does not have to wear a jacket and tie, like at some posh restaurants. However, many courses require golfers to wear a collared shirt and dress "appropriately." However, golfers who play on courses that don't have dress codes still want to look good. They also want to play in comfortable clothes that allow them to play their best game. Purchase shirts, pants and socks for your golfer, and you will always be thought of warmly.

Greens fees gift certificates

Go to a local golf course in your area and you will be able to purchase a gift certificate good for the cost of a round (or two) of golf. This will be appreciated when the golfer doesn't have to dig into his pocket for the greens fees that are normally associated with his hobby. A golfer can pay anything from $20 to $200 for a round of golf, so this is a gift that will be remembered.
