Is It Necessary to Have Ping Clubs Fitted?

By Marc Jenkins

There is an old golfer saying that a set of golf clubs is just like a suit when going to work: if you have an off-the-rack suit or set of clubs, then those are the results and reactions that you get; however if you have a tailor-made three-piece suit or a fitted (custom) set of golf clubs, then good results follow accordingly. One of the top golf club manufacturers when it comes to fitted or custom clubs is Ping and that is why they are the choice of many golfers on the PGA Tour. Many golfers ask the question, is it necessary to have Ping clubs fitted?

The Differences in Golfer's Games and How Ping Fitted Clubs Help

The elements of almost every golfer's game varies in many different aspects. Whether it is their ball flight preference, swing tendencies or even size of the golfer, they all come into play with the exact clubs needed to succeed on the course. Some golfers swing hard and others swing lighter, some golfers require tons of ball loft on their shots, while others don't. So why should all of these different types of players be subjected to using the same sets of clubs? This is the major reason why having Ping golf clubs fitted is an essential part of achieving better scores.

If a golfer doesn't have their clubs fitted then it doesn't mean they will play terribly, but it is a proven fact that a golfer who does play with a fitted set of clubs will score lower under par then if they didn't. There are quite a few feature advantages to having a set of Ping golf clubs fitted and they have the result of an all-around better golfing experience.

Advantages to Having Ping Clubs Fitted

The advantages of having a set of Ping clubs fitted can be seen almost immediately after using them for the first time. A set of Ping fitted clubs are much more forgiving on awkward shot attempts, due to their over-sized sweet spots. They also have supreme weight distribution from the heel to the toe that makes the swinging experience much more pleasurable than that from a set of non-fitted clubs. The gripping on a set of Ping fitted clubs is also superior than that of a set of non-fitted clubs. In just about every aspect the Ping fitted clubs have the non-fitted clubs beat.

Ping Color Code Chart and the Benefits

The people at Ping created a special chart called the Ping Color Code Chart that is broken down into 12 color levels that are each separated by 0.75 degrees of the golfer's swing angle. Once a golfer establishes where they fall into play on the color chart, it can make a huge impact on their game. This will cut down on unnecessary hooking, slicing and unwanted ball flight trajectory.

So is it necessary to have Ping clubs fitted? The simple answer is that it all depends on the golfer. Having Ping clubs fitted are proven to make you feel more comfortable while golfing and to put better scores on the scorecard. If you don't want that out of your game, then maybe to you they aren't. But to most golfers, Ping fitted clubs are necessary.
