Fun Things to Do in Las Vegas for Kids

By Sarah Dray

Las Vegas may be the ultimate golfing destination, but that doesn't mean you can't bring the kids along to share in the fun. Once you're ready to step off the green and see what else the city has to offer, a world of kid-friendly attractions awaits.

Ethel M Chocolate Factory and Botanical Cactus Gardens

To ensure the kids get some fresh air and some time away from the lights and craziness of the Strip, head to this oasis minutes from downtown Las Vegas. The whole family can enjoy a free tour of the factory, where you can watch chocolate being made, sample gourmet treats and buy unique chocolate products at their in-house shop.
After the tour, you can picnic in the cactus garden (right behind the factory) or enjoy a walk among the 350 species of cacti and the many birds that inhabit the space.

Las Vegas Cyber Speedway at the Sahara

There are numerous racing tracks in Las Vegas, but most require riders to be at least 12 and many have a minimum age requirement of 16. For younger kids, the solution is right here, at the Cyber Speedway. The only requirement is that riders be at least 54 inches tall.
Cars are reproductions of real race vehicles (NASCAR is a partner) and are mounted on a moving platform that will shake, move and twist as the riders navigate the virtual racetrack as viewed on a giant wraparound screen. Drivers can choose a car with automatic settings, or they can customize the settings, including tire pressure, horsepower, brake and suspension response and wing angles.
Older kids who want more of a challenge can compete against other drivers.

M&M's World

While a shopping destination, this turns out to be one of the most fun experiences on the Strip. The shop's four flours have everything you could ever want in an M&M's theme, including customized key chains, T-shirts, suitcases, candy dispensers and mugs. There are also a number of collector items with a larger price tag, including items embedded with Swarovski crystal and a $275 M&M's guitar.
Multicolor posters cover the walls and tell the story of the M&M's characters. A 3D film gives visitors a perfect excuse to take a break from shopping.
