Here's a sample of the golf experiences in Prince Edward Island:
Some of the finest golf architects have designed PEI's spectacular golf courses: The Stanley Thompson design of Green Gables Golf Course is located on the Atlantic Ocean featuring deep bunkers, six water holes and the ocean breeze. Glasgow Hills Golf Club & Resort offers 27 holes designed by Les Furber showcasing views of both the River Clyde and the Gulf of St. Lawrence. The championship level 18-hole Fox Meadow Golf & Country Club by Rob Heaslip is located on the shores of the Hillsborough River. Brudenell River is the island's most popular golf course, with a range of challenging shots. This Robbie Robinson course has been host to Canada's first ever women's skins game featuring Lorie Kane and Nancy Lopez among others.
The Scottish links tradition has found a world-class home at The Links at Crowbush Cove, given a five-star rating by Golf Digest and chosen to host major tournaments like the Export-A-Skins game. Located on Prince Edward Island's north shore, the Thomas McBroom design incorporates panoramic views and plenty of challenge with nine water holes, eight dunes holes and greens built to U.S.G.A. specs.
Since its opening day in July 1999, Dundarave has quickly proven itself to be one of the best reasons to golf Prince Edward Island. Architects Michael Hurdzan and Dana Fry incorporated woodland-framed fairways, guarded by an average of seven bunkers per hole, and generous landing areas. With five tee decks this course can accommodate all levels of play.
PEI offers courses for all golfers from pro to beginner: Avondale Golf Course is one of the island's most popular and highest ranked courses, offering 6,900 yards of play accessible to golfers of all skill levels. Summerside Golf Club is considered one of the Island's finest 18-hole championship golf courses. With six water holes, this course also boasts one of the island's most challenging finishing holes.
Try one of these Graham Cooke designs: Andersons Creek Golf Club, an 18-hole championship course located just outside Cavendish; the 7 holes of Eagles Glenn Golf Course on Cavendish Beach; and Mill River, designed by Robbie Robinson and Graham Cooke around a mature forest, for both the high and low handicap player with wide rolling fairways, well bunkered greens, subtle elevation changes and numerous lakes and streams. Golf Digest Places to Play gave Mill River four stars, calling it "Outstanding, plan your next vacation around it". Mill River also placed in the Top 3 Best Golf Courses in Atlantic Canada as decided by SCORE Golf Magazine. For a more traditional golf experience, try Belvedere Golf & Winter Club, which boasts a traditional "Country Club" layout of hardwood-lined fairways.
