Absolutely the best value you can get for a true Championship Course. Walked with the US Amatuer last year and saw it eat up the best in the world. True Links golf just like in Ireland and Scotland. If you don't know how to play links, get a Caddy and learn something new. This course is better than any of the Bandon courses and I have played them all.
Had a great time. Foggy upon arrival, and the fog slowly cleared as we played the first few holes.... slowly revealing teh Sound and the Cascades in the background. Very pretty setting. Golf was much like I've been told the Irish courses play like... lots of interesting bounces and breaks. Played with a caddy for the first time ever, and thoroughly enjoyed the experience (thanks Ed!). A bit pricey, for sure, but seemed pretty reasonable compared to the rates other top-rated courses are charging. A very unique layout that you should play once if you get the chance.
Played the course in 38 degrees and no wind on 11/28/10. Course was in perfect condition three days after snow. Greens gave me fits all day - they were very fast. Impossible to fire at the flags - I had to play to spots on the green and when I missed I was in trouble. The staff was super nice - both the pro shop and the starter - could not ask for a better experience. The walk is hilly, but not that bad - I was never really out of breat and I don't work out. I played all the Bandon courses and this is right up with them for a links golf experience.
06-13-10 - Great course but not to the caliber to be ready for the 2010 US Amateur Championship. Maybe for the 2015 US open it could be. Re-open hole #4 (par 5) but for over a year and during some days in the week will be played on a temp par-4 hole. Course it still not in pristine conditions. May greens are under repair and the grass (from fairways to greens)have tough time to grow. It will come with time. The setting is spectacular and will be very unique. The entire staff are very courteous and pleasant (really focus on customer satisfaction). The course can only be played by walk with or without a caddie. Very difficult to walk - need to be in very good physical conditions. Climb on steep slopes. Many tricky shots if it is your first time. A lot of waste bunkers... I would to go back when the course will command the steep asking price. Order course in the Seattle area offer better value (Re: Washington National). Hope this help...
