Course Reviews

I love this course. Used to come to the area all the time to visit family and would always 'have to' play a round at the Highlander. The course penalizes adequately if you are errant off the tee in the form of blind shots into greens where elevation changes come into play. The well placed pot bunkers in many of the fairways don't just penalize the weekend looper who pushes drives, but also the right hander who draws a ball also has to be aware of these snares. Even a straight hitter better place the ball short or fly over many of the fairway bunkers. Great views and links golf. Don't go long on greens or you find fescue in many strategic places as well. Now that I live in the area, I try to play it weekly.

Fun course with views of the Columbia River Valley

The Highlander Golf Club in Wenatchee is located in the Eastmont area of East Wenatchee up on a plateau high above the Columbia River. While playing here you have nearby views of the river, rolling hills above, and the many orchards in between. In the distance you will see many high peaks to the west including those snow-clad in the spring. The course was in great shape when I played it. They allow you to drive the carts anywhere in the fairways and have nice interconnecting cart paths. It’s not a difficult course and has few trees to content with, but it does have a number of well-placed hazards in the fairways and around the greens on over half the holes. The course has only one pond which is located behind the 11th green – on the 12th hole you will tee over it. Interestingly there is a huge green shared between the 3rd and 5th holes, but you hardly notice the other group if putting at the same time as your group. The 9th is a par 3 over a deep ravine one of their signature holes for sure. The course is just under 6000 yards from the whites and is over 6500 from the tips. Be sure to call the course for directions since it’s not that easy to find in the orchards of East Wenatchee.
