I took my son to this golf course to practice putting. My son has played since he was four and is now nine. He has played tournment golf for two years now. While we were practicing a senior man can walking up to us and asked how old my son. I told him he was nine and he said well you will have to leave. He is not old enough to play here ten or older only. I said thats a shame junior golfers are the future of golf. To this he responded I wouldnt teach any kid below ten years old. All they do is throw there clubs around. If this is the way this golf course treats customers and the future of golf then please stay away ! It is sad that this attitude is still atached to a great family game!

The review by Happy2Golf is out-and-out BS and lies. Infact I believe this reviewer was the owner of the crappy Par-3 that used to be down the street a mile or two. I've been playing at Hartwood for over eight years now and as far as I know, BEN has worked there the whole time. I've probably averaged 30 or 40 rounds a year a Hartwood. In those eight years I've NEVER seen Ben be anything other then a complete gentleman. Oh, and BTW, Hartwood is a very nice little golf course. I'm sure you'll enjoy playing there.

Happy2Golf, That sucks that you had such a horrible experience. I've golfed there several times, the owner is nothing like that. You guys must have gotten some jackass with girlfriend problems. The owner is a very polite, HELPFUL gentleman. He has helped me with my swing, and always been understanding of when one was lagging behind. So, sorry you had to go through that, but try going in there when the owner is there... you'll likely change your mind. :-)

Horrible Experience At Hartwood Golf Course

I've previously been to the Hartwood golf course with my father and enjoyed the small par 29 course. Today, however, being June 17th, 2007 Father's Day...was the worst experience my family and I have ever had at any golf course. After months of convincing my girlfriend to try golfing with me and my family, she finally agreed to do so. Fathers day (today) we walked into the pro shop and told them we had 5 in our group. A man who later claims his name is Ben explains that we can only golf in groups of 4 or smaller. This meant we had to golf in two groups. 3 in one group and 2 in another group. No problem. We rented an extra bag of clubs for my girlfriend as this was her first time golfing with exception to practicing at a driving range learning to swing and hit the ball. This was her First experience on the course. We get up to the first tee on the first hole. I am up first and I hit the ball which landed about 5 feet from the green in a very good spot. My girlfriend then comes up to her first tee and is about to start her first ever game of golf. She hits the ball and it travels straight for about 30 feet. Not a very good hit and her swing was noticeably off. Ben the guy that works and manages the hartwood golf course was in the pro shop and watching us like a hawk. He came out from the pro shop (about 20 feet from the 1st tee on the first hole on this 9 hole golf course yelling at me and my family. The FIRST words to come out of his mouth "today is not training day. If she can't hit the ball better than that, she needs to pick it up after 4 strokes and move on". She has only hit the ball ONCE and he immediately charged out yelling this at us. This was his first communication to us since he told us we would have to golf in groups which there was no problem with that. We had no prior ill feelings toward him until he came out yelling the exact words in quotes above. My brother being upset smartly remarked towards the guy to let us golf...My goodness, we hadn't even begun to golf yet and this guy was watching us like a hawk and then came out putting my girlfriend down, hurting her feelings and yelling at my family. Who does Ben think he is? I wanted to find out, so I asked him if he was the owner....I really thought maybe he was the owner because of how freely he was yelling at us and talking poorly to us. I was shocked so I then asked him for the owners name. His nasty reply to my questions was "LOOK IT UP YOURSELF". He then went back in to the pro office. Then, my father and brother went up and hit the ball. We decided to play 4 but rotate one person out each hole since we couldn't play five at a time and we wanted to just play a version popularly known as "best Ball". This means, whoever hits the ball the best, everyone else will golf from that spot too. So, if I hit it closest to the green, everyone else will take there second shot from where my ball landed. This makes the game go much faster so that we wouldn't be holding anybody up. In fact, we would be waiting on the people in front of us...which wouldn't bother us. Clearly this is what BEN was so worried about. He thought we were going to hold everything up and slow his operation down. So after my Father takes his first shot on the first hole, we all start walking out to play out the hole. Then Ben charges out yelling you guys can't have 5 in your party. We tried to explain that all 5 of us were not golfing but he didn't care. My father approached him and asked him why he was yelling at us, then Ben appeared to calm down a little bit and said to my Dad, "Please, let me give you your money back". My brother said, just let us golf, we aren't doing anything wrong. Ben started yelling at my brother telling him that he was trouble and that if he didn't be quiet, we were all going to have to leave immediately. My father asked him, why won't he just let us play and he yelled at my father saying
