Course Reviews

Great course, if you walk be warned there is a few long walks from green to tee. The greens were a little beat up, fast but soft and had seen alot of play. Great value only $22 to walk after 3pm.

Rock Harbor is a great course! The maintenance is perfect and the setup is perfect! The back nine is awesome you have some great risk and reward holes there. By far the best course in northern virginia!

I love Rock Harbor...the front 9 anyway. The first nine holes on this course are great as are a few of the back nine. However, I found myself thinking I was in an apple orchard during most of the back nine instead of a golf course. Maybe it was because the front 9 spoiled with me with so many beautiful holes. For my money, I would rather play Locust Hill.

Love this course, I should play here more ofter....Best green, and the view in itself makes this course what it is, Apple trees in the fall are great, get a hunger strike, pick a apple off the tree...

Very unique layout and design. The greens rolled fast and true, the fairways were lush and well-maintained. The rough was thick and challenging. Some very difficult holes - #5, #11, #12, and #18 especially. Well worth a pleasant ride. I'll do it again, no doubt!

I was looking forward to my round at Rock Harbor after listening to others. I personally found the staff very friendly and I did not have a tee-time. By the time I finished 18 holes though, I was exhausted with the set-up of this course. It's a very odd lay-out and though my round was fairly well played, I found the course tiring. For sure, the extra use of rocks is a bit "gimmicky"...way over-done in my opinion. The island green on hole 7 and the greens over water on 12-14 are exciting, but just something about all that rock. Some holes are out in the open, some go through old apple trees. But unforgiving is the distance to some of the tees...glad I had a cart for this one. It's a good drive from the 11th green to the 12th tee, and you must return completely back up the par five 650 some yard hole 12 to get to the 13th tee...not a prayer to walk it. I simply found this course a little too "gimmicky" for optimal enjoyment. Worth a play but tiring!

Being a relatively new course there are a lot of open areas that will benefit from mature trees. The course is laid out in an extremely confusing way so pay attention to the signs and check your scorecard so you don't shoot at the wrong hole(s). The staff can be rather uptight so don't expect to make any friends there. There are a few decent views of the surrounding area, especially once you get up around the 11th green. Overall, it's an overpriced, well kept course that is laid out a bit funky.

Pretty good

I like The Rock, but usually go elsewhere. It's a little pricey for me to play all the time. The course isn't bad, but it has some quirky design flaws. Two of the par-5s run next to each other, and it's hard to even tell from the tee where to hit. Once you get down there, there are three greens in sight and it's hard to tell where to go (until you've played it a few times). There's a weird two-tiered green on a par-3, and the hole that preceeds that is another par-3 that seems like they just needed to slap an extra hole in there. The weirdest thing is the hike/drive between two holes that spans the length of a par-5 and most of another par-4 (700-800 yards?). I suspect when the second 18 go in that some of this will be resolved, but until then I think of it as a little too gimmicky.

Great track!

The greens here are phenomenal, and the course itself is a lot of fun to play. A 692 yard par 5, and an island green par 3. Lots of interesting holes, and this place will be something special once the 2nd 18 opens. Definitely worth a play or two.
