There's dirt in almost every fairway and a lot of the holes play exactly the same.

Bring some patience and a straight driver. The course is long, straight, with tree right and left. Don't let the slope fool you, you are in for a challenge.

If you like your golf long and straight, this is your course. Trees tight up to fairway on several holes ate up errant shots. I happened to play the course while all fairways were under repair. Carts on path only made for tons of walking in 90 degree weather. Un-mowed grass made all balls stop immediately in the fairway. Fairways smelled like a river-bottom...suppose from the Potomac flooding. Course is obviously under repair at the moment (8-1-07). Round salvaged by some scenic holes on the back nine. Water comes into play on a few of the back nine holes. Staff outstandingly friendly and helpful. Course just too long and straight for my liking I suppose!

Trees, lots of trees!!! Once you go into the trees, you don't have any choice, but to hit low lay-up shot (unless you are Tiger Woods with stinger). Even from White-tees, fairly long par-3's (many 200+ yds) and par-4's (many 400+ yds), but par-5's reachable in two if your drives are in the fairway. Tough course with reasonable price. Greens and rough need some work.

Every club in the bag

I used to play this course once a month. It is still the longest playing course I have ever stepped onto thanks to the 7 +400 yard par 4 holes. #7 can actually make you fell sorry for yourself when getting ready to hit your second shot. We always refered to this place as "The Gongster".
