The 9-hole "Longest Hole Nine" course at the Meadows Farms Golf Course facility in Locust Grove, Virginia features 3,909 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 37. Designed by Bill Ward, the Longest Hole Nine golf course opened in 1993.
The staff was friendly, the course layout was interesting. Unfortunately, the conditions were terrible. This course needs to invest in more mowers. The fairways were so long that at times you could not tell them from the rough. The rough was way too tall for a public course. My group spent 3 hours playing 9 holes. We were not waiting for the group ahead of us, we were looking for balls in the rough, and sometimes in the fairways. Whenever you can drop a ball over your shoulder and lose it, the rough is WAY too tall !! Just cut it down some and your pace of play will increase !!!!!The sand traps were in need of work as well. They had a lot of rain before we played, but these traps looked like they hadn't seen any work done on them in months. They were like hitting off concrete. Visually, the course was ok. The layout was interesting and there were plenty of signs to keep you going in the right direction. With some maintenance, this would be a fun track. Unfortunately, that was not the case.
